Weave the Queen a Story!

    My dearest, fairest Queen Pisum! I have recently returned home from an exciting yet strange day visiting the Spring Carnival! The smells, the music, the screams of terrified sprouts being pushed down a hill unsecured in their carts, There was so much going on I felt as small as the bits of dust that collect on the ends of your long locks dragging along the ground! Although, I feel I was much less noticeable. However, I may have discovered a dark plot hatching underneath all the fun and games!! Here is a brief account of all my experiences, for your reading pleasure, Your Majesty! 

    I arrived early, hoping to get a quick scope of the fairgrounds before they were obscured by crowds, but it felt like every other Griffian in Griffia had beaten me here! I scurried toward this small booth with many folks huddled 'round it. It was a face painting booth! While fun on the surface, I started to ponder... What if they were covering up their identities?! Maybe they were planning to steal the hats of other Griffians and they try selling them back to them! Or even worse, I thought, they wanted to impersonate me and spread awful news articles about how little bits of dust stick to Queen Pisum's hair when she walks! I put on my thinking cap ( I held it down so none of the disguised beans could take it!) and interrogated the bean at the booth! I asked her upfront about why she wanted to steal every hat in Griffia! What was her plan! She pretended to be taken aback, and told me a lie that this was just a fun face painting booth! She offered to paint my face too! Well, maybe it wasn't a lie, but if I figured I looked like the other participants, they might not take my cap! She seemed a bit angry as she painted me , probably because it's so hard to cover up a front-page face like mine. Her mood lifted as she was close to finishing, she even started giggling! "Have fun at the rest of the carnival!" She said and smirked at me, and off I went, ready for some more stories! 


    My nose dictated my next stop, leading me to a wonderful smelling food cart! Well, maybe it wasn't that wonderful. It was kind of a sweet and sour smell, very similar of what Queen Pisum's breathe smells like in the morning, actually! It was a slightly wonderful smell. Slightly.  As I approached the cart, the cute bean manning it glanced up to me. She seemed to be in high spirits, because she burst out laughing at soon as she saw me!  She dropped the money beans she was holding right into her fryer, too! I was fascinated, her marvelous cart could fry pickles AND hold money! " So can you keep anything in there?!" I squealed with excitement. She was very friendly, and replied " I guess, yeah! ..yeah! Like, Pickles, cabbage, mushrooms.. anything you want..!" I think that is what she said, anyway. It was hard to understand her through her laughter, but I appreciated just how friendly she was. She kept focused on me the entire time, such customer service! I tried to peer over her cart, but I couldn't quite see into the vats. THEN a chilling thought struck me!  If she could put anything in there, maybe this is where the stealthy, painted Griffians were hiding the stolen hats! Even more than just hats, scarves, gloves, jewelry! I panicked, by the end of this carnival, all of Griffia would be accessory-less! I took a step back and stammered. " C-can... Can you put hats in there!?" I had to have answers!  The bean held her belly in pain as she let out howling laughter. " SURE, GILLS. ANYTHING YOU WANT!" Gills? Oh right, my disguise! This was all the proof I needed. I scurried away from this dark place, hoping to find allies in my quest to stop this terrible plan!


    The bright flags and wonderful smells everywhere denied this carnival's true secrets. A large fenced off area caught my eye, and I raced towards it. I finally saw a bean I recognized, Saudade! "Sau!" I called out. With a quick reaction, she flicked her eyes to greet mine. She was so happy to see me, she burst out into a full on chuckle!  She was so, so happy to see me a bean snuck up to her and snatched some leaves out of her hand! Huh, hope she didn't need those. "Sau, Sau!" I waved my arms frantically " There is something crazy in this carnival!"  Saudade pointed straight at me, through laughter she told me " YEAH, I can see that!" Finally! I had an ally! I asked her what we should do about this, but I had to wait a little while as she tried to calm down her giggles. "Here, Meme" She pointed off to the west " Go to the Mirror House, I think you need to see something..." She smiled wide. Finally, a clue! I thanked her and apologized for interrupting her booth. I headed for my destination.


    I couldn't keep myself on track for long. I spotted a strange looking character handing a bean a bag full of water. " No keep in bag" She urged as she nudged the bag to the happy customer. Curious, I crept closer and saw inside the bag was a small Anubias Pixi! It's not everyday you see these adorable critters in Griffia! As the bean trotted off with its prize, the strange character turned its attention to me and cocked its head. " Escaped? Go in pool" She said to me, and gestured toward the small pool of water set up at her booth. Escape? Into the pool? I peered over the edge of the pond. It seemed to be rather shallow, how could I escape into this? I figured it out in a moment, my mind as sharp as a whip. This was a PORTAL straight to Capria! I gasped, realizing this plot goes much deeper than before. The disguised Griffians were hypnotized by this strange caster, to steal all of Griffia's accessories. Then, they toss them into this portal to Capria to sell to the Fashion fishies! But Why? My thoughts were rudely cut off by the Caster trying to push me into her pool! She was trying to put me out of the picture! I knew too much! "Fishy, back in pool. Or put in bag!" She repeated over and over to me as we struggled. There's no way I was going to be stopped when I was so close to solving this mystery! I slipped out of the stubby Caster's grasp, much like lettuce slips between Queen Pisum's teeth when she eats a salad! Sprinting at full speed, I left the Caster in my dust! I could hear her calling in the distance " Fishy! Go to pool!"


    Ah! The Mirror House! I slipped inside , quivering with excitement. What would be inside here that would answer my questions?! I looked inside the mirrors, but what peered back hardly looked like me. I was all squiggly and awful, like Queen Pisum's smile when she laughs way, way too hard. Still cute, although. I spent quite a while pacing the halls. Actually, I think I walked some of the halls twice. Or maybe ten times, I really couldn't tell. I was getting tired, my day was full of action but I hadn't eaten since the start of the day! Maybe I should have bought a fried hat to eat from the food cart earlier... I sat down and tried to think up a plan. My eyes and legs felt heavy. I was almost drifting off when I turned my head to the left and my eyes met my reflection in a mirror. This one almost didn't seem warped like the others, my body looked completely normal! The one thing that was off was it made your face look like you had a big fish face! I wonder how this one was able to do that. I tried to think of an answer but my brain was fried. I hadn't noticed the sweat on my forehead until now. When I wiped my paw across my face, I noticed the mirror changed. It now looked like the fish smudged! I wiped again, most seemed to disappear. I looked down at paw to see it stained with paint. I didn't get it. This was too much. I fell asleep that afternoon in the mirror house, and I never found out what was really going on in that carnival, my dear Queen Pisum.
