He couldn't let go of the thought of a White hole. The creation myths said that the gods created the demons and the demons created the world through their war. So technically they should be able to create a new world. The problem was the matter. Some legends said the demons created the matter themselves and some legends tell the gods provided them with a cloud of stardust. The matter based shifters could create new matter but it took an extreme amount of energy from the shifters and there was a limit to how much they were able to create in one session. Most shifters keep themselves surrounded by their element, flying around them, so they could manipulate it instead of having to create new all the time. if they should create a new world from scratch it would take the whole society centuries to only create a solid ground be able to stand on. A white hole could provide them with all the matter they needed. She would truly be his messiah, his counterpart. She would save them from this world of injustice and fear.

When they got back to the camp he told Cameron about his findings.
Cameron seemed a bit skeptical about it at first. He couldn't blame her, she was fired up by the idea of taking down the council and take over this world. But after he had explained the idea of the prefect world and how they were going to achieve it she seemed more content. They still had to take down the council and take over the society. But there was of course two parameters it all depended on, if they would be able to find a white hole and if Kaylin would be able to create a wormhole portal out in space. Then they discussed what they would bring. Animals of course for the sake of surrogate mothers, sure they could probably reproduce without the biological bodies but the shifter species had evolved to have an animal body, all feelings and rational thoughts was tied to the biological forms. Without the feelings they might start another demon war. The archive in the chemical faction seemed like a good thing to bring as well but the two of them couldn't quite agree on whether they should bring any humans or not. Cameron wanted kill them all but Wilfred thought a couple of humans would be nice to keep around as servants.

The first light rays from the sun emerged over the horizon and touched the tree tops. Wilfred squinted his eyes as he went out from the tent into the cold morning air. He looked around on the provisional camp. They would have to move soon again or the scouts would probably find them. This time they would head for the farmlands south of Devantos. Edgar said he wanted access to the robots there. Wilfred couldn't say he liked the big industrial robots, but they had proven themselves to be handy several times.
Out of nowhere the red panda suddenly appeared in the middle of the camp. Wilfred wasn't even surprised anymore, he had started to get used to her popping up out of nowhere.
“Kaylin, can I talk with you?” he asked her. She looked surprised at him. He shifted to his jackal form to join her appearance.
“Come walk with me.”

“I have been thinking a lot. We all have different roles in this revolution. Cameron recruits shifters to our cause, Edgar spies on the society and you what is your role?” Kaylin looked very bothered.
“I don't know Wilfred, my powers aren't really useful for a revolu…”
“Your powers are extraordinary!” he interrupted her.
“Do you think so?”
“Yes, we just need to find a good way to put them to use.” He said and then he was quiet for a short while. The forest they walked through opened up to a big field.
“Do you think you could open a portal out in space?” Wilfred finally asked.
“What? Why?!” Kaylin answered surprised.  “I'm not creating portals, I'm taking shortcuts.”
“Through a portal, a wormhole is a kind of a portal.” Wilfred explained.
“A portal out in space seems a little bit farfetched for a revolution, don't you think?” Kaylin said confused.
“Do you think you could bring me with you on your shortcut?”
“No…”
“Can we at least try?”

They both shifted to their human form. Kaylin took his hand.
“Where do you want to go?” she asked.
“How about the other side of the field?” she started walking. Suddenly her hand slipped out of his grip and she disappeared. Disappointed he saw her appear alone on the other side of the meadow.
“I told you, it doesn't work that way!” she shouted across the field. In an instance she was back by his side.
“Let’s try it again!” he exhorted.

“What if this time you hold my arm really tight? And don't let go.” Wilfred said. They had been trying to get him to follow Wormhole on her “shortcuts" for the better part of an hour now but with no result.
“It's worth a try…”
They started walking across the field, Kaylin with Wilfred's arm in a tight grip. This time he was sure they would make it, he was very careful trying to walk right next to her, prepared to take off in any unexpected direction. Suddenly there was a soft resistance in his path, he tried to push against it, and then….
“You ripped my arm of…!” a fountain of blood flowed from his shoulder. With his other hand he tried to stop it.
“Sorry!” Kaylin shouted from across the field. Then she was right next behind him again, in her hand she held the severed arm.
“That is a nasty tear.” Wilfred said a bit shocked looking at the tangled mess of his own arm. The upper arm was stretched into straws and reminded him a bit of tangled spaghetti.
“I told you it wasn't likely to work.”
“But you do bring your clothes with you. Maybe if you were to carry me?”
“Come on! Look at this shit.” she said and waved with the arm. “I'm not going to risk the rest of you coming out like this on the other side.”
Just as Wilfred was going to answer he passed out from blood loss.

When he woke up he lay in his tent. His whole body hurt and something felt very wrong. As he tried to get up he realized his left arm was gone. Someone had wrapped bandages around his whole upper body. Kaylin sat beside him on the camp bed looking down into the floor.
“I'm sorry.” she said regretfully when she noticed he was awake.
“What for? You did as I told you.”
“I should’ve let go when I noticed it didn't work… Edgar was furious with me when I got back with you. It was he who patched you up.” she looked at him. “Do you think it'll grow back?”
“Don't worry about it, I've been through worse.” Wilfred smiled and looked at the girl. She was always so doubtful, what she needed was some confidence. The best way to make her do things was to pursue her and give her positive feedback.
“We train more when I'm well enough to get out of bed.”
“But I don't think I can do it.”
“You did good Kaylin, you got ten percent of me with you through the portal, next time we'll make it twenty.”
“You’re going to make me kill you.”
