Dark Lightning Opal:Lightning That Sears The Void

EDIT: I must thank , and for inspiring me to update and fix Dark Lightning Opal, because like some of my characters, I clearly rushed her in a sense or lost inspiration, which lead to the designs suffering. I've rectified that now with her (I hope) and I really can't thank these 3 skilled and bloody awesome friends for, helping me come to this realization.

Gem: Dark Lightning Opal

Identification: She/It/Thing

Nicknames: Stormy, Lightning, Sparks, Thunder Blue, Miss Darklight, Jackzy.

Gem Placement: Below Chest. Center of Ribs.

Height: 6'3

Gem Space: {The space within the gemstone} A tremendous cityscape that is always raining and bleak, with neon flora/fauna with a sky adorned with blinking stars.

Alliance: None (Dark Lightning Opal is a one Gem Rebellion against the tyranny of The Diamonds).


Powers:

-Full immersive utilization of electricity in its harnessed and natural states.

-Able to accelerate, tapping into a force of velocity that can reach great speeds without the hardlight body and the gem becoming seperated.

-When under the positive effects of a "High Charge" state the stamina, strength and power of the Gem are enhanced without the need to absorb external sources of energy to increase prowess and reaction times.

-In the negative effects of a "low charge" state, the hardlight body slows, pain becoming a resonating sensation that lessens as the state dissipates. All light sources become inert, as the body takes in nearby lighting, only to disperse it erratically.

-Projection of Lightning strikes, storms and bolts.

-Enhancement of her own performance by siphoning off external power sources which can be applied in manageable portions of energy to other lifeforms and machinery, increasing speed, stamina, reflexes and kinetic force.

-Can inhabit anything that has kinetic energy or electrical energy (biological/technological) and control all motor functions. The Gemstone can be located anywhere, the only telltale sign of being controlled.

-Able to cling to a variety of surfaces with ease due to the inherent molecules housed within the hardlight body that the gem occupies.


Personality:

-(Past with Friends) She was happy and content, she had her two best friend's by her side along with her work which gave her a sense of purpose. Dark Lightning Opal is described as being quite mellow, a better listener but a strong speaker when her "heart" is in it; a Gem with no worries, carrying a very laidback attitude into the furthest depths of space. Energetic but in a tempered manner with the occasional passionate outburst.

-(Past Alone) A Gem who was lost, locked within terrible cage of despair, unquestionable depths of paralytic sadness that was engulfed by monophobia. Opal was so afraid, so close multiple times to bringing herself to shattering her hardlight body just to numb any sensation of feeling by escaping into her gem.

-(Present Alone) Dark Lightning Opal is stubborn, determined and crafty; she is filled with an inner storm that threatens to consume her, in great heaps of immobile hopelessness and despair. She distracts herself with the mission at hand along with any detours in this vengeance driven path. The former planetary explorer scout is quite afraid of being shattered, along with seeing others shattered, something that rattles her core when contemplating what to do to those who drove her to become a renegade.
Much like a shark, she feels that if she slows down and dwells, then the strength to stand up again would vanish from her very spirit.

-(Present with Friends/Allies) Opal is fiercely overprotective and caring; much the same as she was before a terrible fate befell her crewmates & friends but now balanced out with responsibilities as well as some of her old charismatic self shining through the darker perspective she came into. Her goal remains the same, tagged with a sarcastic, upbeat outlook, which functions as both a mask and the better part of herself manifesting. She's persistent and thoughtful, still delving into anything that would keep her from entering a "low charge" state of despair. An exceptionally good day for her is a "high charge" state.

History: Dark Lightning Opal was created to scout potential worlds that could be made into resourceful homeworld outposts for terraforming and harvesting. She was teamed up with Pinfire Opal and Blue Opal upon being assigned a ship and a region of space to explore.
Pinfire was bombastic and full of good humor but with a scatterbrained mind that was coupled with a gem who had a great desire to be a warrior, whilst Blue was full of affection, curiosity and timidness that was only the surface level for a gem who had some passionate but conflicting layers. In the long voyage from planet to planet, these three became quite close, with Lightning looking out for Blue like a sibling and forming a warrior's camraderie with Pinfire, a friendly rival that had Lightning being the brains and spark with Pinfire being the brawn with the fire to kick things off.

During a refuelling pitstop on a converted world, Dark Lightning Opal, Pinfire Opal and Blue Opal were summoned to an R & D facility, on order from a high ranking gem following a direct instruction given by The Diamonds; the three Opals were unsure as to why they would be called upon to report to some higher crust gems and they're scientists.......a day that would change everything, explicitly.

They were sent to this facility, to be "harvested" as power sources for new technology and weapons; the process of doing so equates to lobotimizing, where a gem's body is nullified and their gem simply becomes a pretty, empty rock with no thought, no sentience, no existence of any sort, for usage as more power for Homeworld's more ambitious projects. Lightning brought the facility crashing down, eradicating all records of coming to this world, along with poofing every gem in sight, making the incident seem like a struggle that resulted in the complete destruction of the R & D station, with no survivors marked for harvesting.

Dark Lightning Opal escaped, with the lobotomized Pinfire and Blue in hand; she ventured off world, hurdling into the deepest, darkest, barrenest of parts of space, where she cocooned herself into an idle state of despair and self-destructive stupor. In time, after many long solar cycles, Lightning used the scout ship, standing on its last legs, to travel to a remote sector of space, rumored to be a hub for a group of scientist gems that created and tinkered away with some of the most dangerous projects ever conceived; being the only gem there with combat capabilities, Lightning donned a disguise as she approached, making it known those who refused to cooperate would be shattered with extreme prejudice. The science gems began to craft weapons and a ship for her to utilize in a mission that finally dawned on her, during that period of bleak inactivity.

The scientists crafted a sword that used Blue's gem, a cannon that harnessed the energy from Pinfire's gem, in the process they let slip the secret of creating a Diamond; with this knowledge, as her ship was being built, Dark Lightning Opal asked the scientists for one final tool to be created, something that would even the playing field should she ever confront The Diamond Authority, the end result was The Diamond Arms. The aggressor left, apologizing for her actions while leaving a very clear reminder; if The Diamonds learned of what transpired here, the entire collective of gems who aided this rogue fugitive would suffer an unforgiveable fate, so silence would be a more preferred route to adhere to.

A lone renegade, with no discernible gem nor a face that could be identified, striking at the widespread operations of Homeworld, like a storm with a terrible vendetta that had no shortage of targets. Dark Lightning Opal frequented space ports where no gem knew her, giving a reservoir of information to the rebellious gem on where to hit next and where to avoid if possible; it was during one such visit she overheard a transmission from a Peridot, located on a world that was supposedly destroyed as it had been in the grip of rebels who defied the entirety of Homeworld's way of life, something that resonated with Lightning, considering that The Diamonds see anyone below them as just an expendable resource to be used how they see fit, an injustice that stirred a violent storm deep within this chaotic of Opals.

Lightning scouted out the area where the eviserated world was suppose to be, finding it intact and crawling with all manner of life. The one gem rebellion decided to dock ship, as far as possible from any intelligent lifeforms, as it became apparent that if this world still lived, then the rebels may yet still function; a truth she found out by scoping out an area that seemed to be under the protection of The Crystal Gems and they're leader, along with approaching three off colors by a miscalculation of location. Bone, Pink Sapphire and Jam (Jasper with Amethyst) brought a renewed sense of hope and self to Dark Lightning Opal, revitalizing her conviction to never let what happened to her two friends, happen again to another gem.

Opal had brought these three gems together, creating an alliance with each of them, which soon transmutated into a friendship and a responsibility, as these wonderful, happy off colors unofficially made Dark Lightning Opal they're leader, something that fills her with a sense of doubt and inspiration. Lightning continues to traverse through space, eradicating Homeworld's efforts to conquer other planets, in her down time returning to Earth to enjoy the company of her new friends, never once forgetting about the promise she kept to Pinfire Opal and Blue Opal, to never allow Homeworld a moment of respite as long she remained. Lightning never takes her fellow rogues on one of her missions into the stars, but should a corrupted gem appear or a disaster threatens a human settlement, she knows she can count on them to help, despite they're lack of training.

Tools:

Size Changing Harness: This device was scavenged and cobbled together from various ships. (Everyone remember The Rubies Ship and how it changed The Crystal Gems sizes without them expending energy on shapeshifting? The tool you see does exactly that, without using one's own energy or shapeshifting, a Gem can become as big as a Diamond or as small as an Aquamarine with everything in between. The Harness is adjustable to any Gem and is normally worn over one's own gemstone.) A tool such as this can allow one to properly grapple with a Diamond, hide whilst being short as a Ruby or look as beefy and intimidating as a Quartz Type Soldier.

-Anti-Matter Fusion Cannon: With Pinfire Opal's Gem housed within this weapon of total annihilation, concentrated spikes of energy can be fired from this tool that bring about temporary paralysis without causing physical harm to a body. The Gem that powers it also allows for the weapon to cause a sudden spark of dazzling light to blindside targets. This gun on its own without a power source functions as a flamethrower, battering ram and a force of great destructive capabilities with a single concentrated blast of Anti-Matter that can be improved upon by the wielder's own power or by external sources.

-Energy Sword: Powered by Blue Opal, this weapon creates an enclosed atmosphere of silence and invisibility around the user, allowing for silent, precision based strikes. The Gem, when housed within this weapon also acts as a catalyst for the wielder to don the sword as armor that acts as a mighty shield and a great, living sword. Dark Lightning Opal utilizes this tool only when she is in a stable mood, as this tool amplifies the emotions of the user; which can present drawbacks such as being consumed by a strong negative emotion temporarily. The sword also serves as an empathetic dowsing rod, it can tell friends from foes while also picking up on different emotions of those in close proximity to it.

-Diamond Arms: Tools created by a small group of science Gems that knew the secret to creating a Diamond. The arms serve as limit breakers, as whilst wearing them a Gem's natural abilities and powers evolve into a superior state of control coupled with releasing potential that would normally not be possible without them. These twin gauntlets are as strong as the most perfect diamond gemstone; sharp enough to cut through everything, blunt enough to be used as a hammer that shatters all it hits or strong enough to be one of the greatest defensive shield's that could survive the harshest of enviroments and attacks.

-Dawn's Miracle: An interstellar spaceship in the shape of a Manta Ray. This vessel comes with an A.I that functions as an autopilot and a crew member; who can interact with the rest of the crew via internal mechanical appendages. The Dawn's Miracle is a ship built with speed, stealth and sharp mobility in mind; equipped with a quickdraw warp drive, comet cluster bombs and hull-piercing needle guns.
