Commission - Fantasy Character Concepts

Full-body flat coloured character sketch commission for my good pen-pal , who asked me to design a pair of protagonists for her latest book/story.

Khalida (on the left) is a spoiled yet carefree desert princess who has a shameless appetite thanks to her mother's urges. Although she tries to act with dignity & grace, her cheekiness & naivety can often get her into trouble, both dangerously & humorously.

Lake (on the right) is a traveling magic user who would become Khalida's mentor/teacher upon arriving in her kingdom. While he often tries to be courteous, his skills in magic are usually what win over those that give him a hard time. Lake also owns an animal familiar in the form of Astra, a golden falcon/phoenix-like bird who travels with him wherever he goes.
