Description
Moon Tower was a very involved design (too much so to waste on just one panel, so I've slotted it into the background of several other Canterlot shots on later pages). It's a conglomeration of several Cloudsdale structures from the show, plus recolored bits of Cloud City (which you'll recall was originally a Cloudsdale colony, so I figured I might as well reuse the architecture), with a little bit of Stark Tower thrown in for good measure. The interior is based on two Italian palazzi, with a few architectural motifs taken from Rainbow Dash's bedroom.
I originally intended the griffonpoid butler to be an example of the Cloudsdale nobility's horrible racism, and the fact that Moon Moth didn't see anything wrong with it as a reminder that she's not the hero she imagines herself to be, but it occurs to me that I've never really explained why this would be offensive to griffons. I mentioned before that they have a cultural taboo against speaking Equestrian, but I haven't indicated just how strong that taboo is - a pony having a griffon protocol poid is roughly as offensive as asking a Ferengi artist to work for exposure.
This'll be the last rapid-fire release for a while - the last batch coincided with the end of one issue and the start of the next (and therefore, easier pages to do), and I've got a couple of big projects coming up, so it may be back to one a week for the next little bit.
