Backstory

Serenity and Moss were inseparable, they loved one another immensely and roamed the forest together. They had lived within this forest their entire lives and had never dreamt of leaving it behind. But lately the forest was not bearing as much food as before, parts of the land had begun to rot and the grass and shrubby along with it. Their daily scavenge for food took longer each passing day and was wielding less and less. Serenity begun to weaken. Moss had decided that they would need to leave their forest home for greener pastures, however he was concerned that taking Serenity along when he was unsure what lay beyond might cause her further harm, so he would go ahead and scout for a suitable new home and come back for her. He had gathered as much food for Serenity as possible before departing on his journey, giving the doe assuring nudges and licks.

Her heart broke watching Moss leave over the hill without her, she understood the reasons, but she had never wanted to leave his side he had always made her feel so protected and warm inside. Serenity would wait daily by the edge of the forest for Moss to return, she sadly would not see him again. As she lay dying, heart broken and lonely, she looked up at the tree she had claimed as her watching post and felt petals fall against her face. As she lay her head down and felt her eyes close for the final time, she caught the silhouette of a strange creature walking her way.
