Aldric was hugely attracted to Emrys (prior to becoming close to Zieryn), but did not directly address it for some time.. out of respect and (his perceived) difference in their stations
Aldric was rejected upon his (eventual) confession, and took some time to regain his sense of devotion towards working for Emrys.
They're somewhat friends now, though there always seems to be an invisible wall of respect / status between them.. even though Emrys does not really think of himself and Aldric as having different statuses.

note: Emrys' horns + tail are not visible when with Aldric
