Nikolai "Kalahan" Tarakona

[Tracker Link] • [Dragon Link]

STATS

Name: Nikolai Tarakona

Age: 24

Gender: Andro Female

Sexuality: Homosexual

Height: Six foot even

Appearance:
Kalahan is fairly tall, with a lean but slightly muscled build. Despite being technically female, she wears a suit specifically designed to make her chest seem flat and masculine. Her hair is brown, with crimson highlights along the sides that blends with the normal brown on the top in a gradient. Her eyes are a bright blue, and the glasses she wears are made from Cyan Draconium. Because her canines are a bit longer and sharper than most peoples', they often stick out of her lips.

Personality:
Kalahan is an optimistic, laissez-faire kind of person who is often accused of being lazy. In truth, she just prefers to not waste energy that could be devoted elsewhere, to more important things. Kalahan can be very protective of what she cares about, her usual kind demeanor breaking in the face of the broiling anger she typically keeps in check. This hidden rage can also be provoked by certain rude, disrespectful, or inconsiderate behaviors; but Kalahan often tries to keep herself cool and focused...and mostly succeeds.

While Kalahan may inwardly judge people many a time, she never makes an official or outright statement until she is absolutely sure it is right. She hates assuming things, especially when she's wrong, so she always reserves her opinion and keeps her mind open to other sides until she knows where she stands. If you've done something wrong, Kalahan may inwardly assume you are a bad character; but if she learns you had good reason, or no choice, she will be much more amiable to your situation.

Kalahan also typically does not take to ordering people around, but nor does she really take to being ordered around. Despite her aversion to being in charge, people have noticued with amusement (and behind her back) that she has often taken charge without even realizing. But then, she often tends to psyche herself out by overthinking things, or succuminb to occasional bouts of anxiety. But when Kalahan is focused, she knows what to do and what must be done.

Biography:
At first, Nikolai grew up in a normal, peaceful household in Mid-City like most everyone else in that area. Her parents and her sister had the most basic and normal of lives, but that happiness was not to last. When she was about 10 years old, they were the unfortunate victims of a basic robbery gone wrong, resulting in the destruction of their home...and the death of Nikolai's family, leaving only her behind. The only bright side to the situation was her being taken in by a friend's family; the Fahress household, of whom her dear friend Elsa had convinced her parents to bring her Nikolai in.
A new arc of happiness came along with this faux-adoption, as now Nikolai was able to stay with Elsa. As the years passed, and the two grew up closer than they had before, the relationship gradually began to change. The further they got into their teen years, the closer they grew until it eventually became clear: they were romantically attracted to one another. One mutually awkward realization later, the two made it official between themselves. Unfortunately, the pair were acutely aware that should Elsa's parents discover the true depth of their relationship...Nikolai would no longer be welcomed in their house, nor anywhere near their daughter...
Elsa and Nikolai were able to keep their romance a secret for many years, until one unguarded, tender moment they shared in the former's room. Elsa's mother had been quietly watching them, initially admiring their friendship, only to witness in horror as they kissed. Before either of them were able to register what had happened, Elsa's father had physically thrown Nikolai out onto the street. Even as his own daughter pleaded for him to be merciful, the man decreed that Nikolai was no longer in not only his home, but in all of Mid-City itself. Elsa's increased fervor in her pleas prompted the man to order her back inside, only for her to resist...until Nikolai told her to do it, to leave.
Before she acquisced, Elsa ran to her and gave her what felt to be a final hug. Despite their newfound hatred of the dark-skinned woman, Elsa's parents allowed it. They glanced away, however...allowing Elsa to slip something into Nikolai's pocket, and whisper something to her. When she pulled away, though it hurt her deeply, the look Nikolai sent Elsa convinced her to go back inside, Elsa's sister escorting her back in. The younger girl in question shared an intense glance with Nikolai before the door shut them all off from each other again...
The girls' father then assured Nikolai, he was serious about never returning to Mid-City; the man was very influential, and had some pull with Precinct. One word from him, and should Nikolai ever resurface in Mid-City, she would be immediately detained. "Go down to the lower division with the rest of the trash, with those bloody crews and criminals...where you belong. I always suspected you were a dirty animal, and you've only confirmed my fears. Leave, you beast... Come back, and I will ensure that Precinct becomes your final home."
With a scowl and a growl, Nikolai turned away and left; she didn't even bother to try and go for her things. There was no way she could go back in there now, and odds were they would destroy her things...or sell them, or ship them to Precinct or something. Either way, the young woman simply made her way down to Down-City, not even bothering to acknowledge anything around her; so she didn't notice when she ran into the side of a giant brown dragon.
The enormous Earth-Class beast grunted as he looked down at the person who'd ran into him, peering at her from under the armored plating over his head. Besides this great dragon was another, more familiar Earth-Class—the mighty Rumbull, and from his back Kawake asked Nikolai if she was all right. She managed to say yes, before a choked sob betrayed her and revealed the truth. Being in the middle of the street, Kawake ordered the saddle-less brown Nikolai had ran into to mag her onto his neck, where she could sit till they returned to the Will's Compound. Once there, Nikolai relayed her story to the crippled champion, who felt for her and pitied the events that had been regularly ruining her life. Kawake offered her a home with his crew; after all, if one is going to be all but banished to Down-City, they might as well have a crew to support them.
Nikolai asked for time to think, to consider, as she'd only just gotten kicked out but a few hours ago. Kawake gave her the space and time to think...but the dragon she'd ridden to the compound made no such promises. He approached her where she'd stood apart, and simply stood there beside her. Eventually, as the comfortable silence between them became wrought with tension, Nikolai finally broke down. She fell to her knees and held onto the brown's mighty chin, crying against his scales as she finally let her emotions register all the trauma she's had to face. The loss of her family, the loss of her love and the home she'd offered, the loss of it all.
From then on, Nikolai and the Brown who'd been her rock were never apart again. She learned his name—the mighty Chogori, aka K2—and was then gifted a proper saddle to ride with him from Kawake. The two were all but attached at the hip from then on, Nikolai even taking to sleeping alongside Chogori regularly. Nikolai also made the decision to take on a Crew name, and asked everyone to use it over her real name: Kalahan. The same name as an ancient dragon of legend from the days of the First War, all those thousands of years ago. A legend she'd read as a child, one that gave her solace throughout everything.
The newly dubbed Kalahan, and her dragon Chogori, would follow in Kawake's footsteps to become legendary Dragball players, and even dabbling in jousting...as well as racing. While the racing didn't always constitute a win, due to Chogori's great size, there is the saying "slow and steady wins the race". Which occassionally held true for them, as every so often, there would be a race they won. Not enough to really spit on, but enough to annoy the more speed-able racing pairs. She gained an official Will of the Dragon Crew suit, and added her own armor additions for the heck of it. She equipped for herself an enormous pauldron, upon which she painted a symbol derived from the "wheel" of Kawake's chair, to honor him for his hand in her salvation.

Additional

Kalahan always has to wear her glasses if she wants to get anything accomplished, as she is terribly near-sighted. Because of this, and the impossibility of wearing glasses and a helmet simultaneously, the visor of her helmet is made of cyan draconium designed to improve shoddy eyesight.
Just to be safe, I'm going to mention that Cyan Draconium is something I made up as an additional color that was bred from dragons, with a new draconium along with them. If this is a problem, I'll remove mention of it and just say her glasses were made to look cyan. Cyan Draconium was simply my answer to making vision adjustment stuff. Like, what color would be able to improve vision? Well...how about I just make up one? If that's a no-go for the RP-verse, let me know and I'll nix it. I mean...I'd like to keep it, cuz Cyan Draconium is actually my favorite Dragon Booster "OC" (I mean it's a metal, but it has a class to go with it, so...), but if I have to write it out, I can.
Kalahan actually has a very bad sense of smell, and her hearing isn't the best...unfortunately, the latter means she often speaks louder than she really needs to.

I'm on Discord, so note me and we'll set something up. ;3
