Gentoo Linux Screenshot (Jan-2017)

Re-upload 2018.

I've installed Gentoo Linux last year in a virtual machine, and this is the result.
Gentoo Linux and similar GNU/Linux distributions (Crux, etc.) are well known among computer enthusiasts because they're really difficult to install and configure. I had to use several internet tutorials to get it functioning. Some stuff related to Portage package management (USE variables, etc.), error debugging and special hardware configuring (video, etc.) are the most difficult part. About kernel compiling, it's not that difficult because it's not necessary to get the kernel extremely tuned if oneself is not a GNU/Linux super-guru!

Features showcased here:

Terminator console with transparency; the wallpaper is shown behind;
Lolcat (to color the console text as a rainbow);
A BASH script drawing the Mandelbrot set (fractals) in text mode;
XMMS2, a console music player;
Cmatrix ("The Matrix" falling text FX for your console);
Screenfetch (it shows the system specs with the Gentoo logo in this case);
A 256 color demo (another BASH script);
Gkrellm, a system monitor with the Matrix theme;
Htop, a text mode system monitor;
Tint2, a lightweight taskbar for lightweight GNU/Linux desktops;
The PekWM lightweight desktop interface.

All the software inside this virtual machine was entirely compilated (even Mozilla Firefox, not shown here), using the option MAKEOPTS="-j3" in <make.conf> compilation configuration file. The machine has two CPU cores and 2 Gb of memory.

This virtual machine is still running as today, February 10, 2018! ^^
