Ragnarok

Ragnarok had taken a moment to look down in the water one last time, trying to make himself look presentable. His name finally looked good, he had bathed in the cold snow melt off and had found a small gift for Riga, several blue jay feathers that she could use to decorate her den. Gathering his courage, he sucked a breath in and began his walk to find his best friend.

The pack watched with joy and amusement on their faces as the young male found his friend and he fumbled. God when did Riga become so beautiful?

”Hi Riga. Uhm uhm.”  Ragnarok stuttered, blush running across his cheeks. He stepped forward and placed the feathers gently behind her ear in her fur.
”Would you do me the honor of uhm
Uhm accompanying me to the falls? As in uhm, as in a date.” Ragnarok stuttered, dipping his head shyly and running his large claws in the marshy ground around the winter den. He waited with baited breath, hoping he didn't overstep his boundaries.

Riga

On a night like this, Riga was restlessly shambling around her den. She wasn’t bored but it was one of those days where her legs were aching for a good run. She was surprised when a familiar face made its way towards the entrance of her den. Riga hadn’t had the chance to speak before Rag gently placed a cluster of blue jay feathers behind her ear. “Rag-“ Surprise lit up on her delicate features.

”Would you do me the honor of uhm
Uhm accompanying me to the falls? As in uhm, as in a date.”

Riga froze and a noticeable cascade of blush appeared on her cheeks. The weird but welcome feeling returned to the she-wolf and she nuzzled the taller wolf with affection. “Y-yes!” Was her reply. She smiled warmly.

Ragnarok

Holy shi- she said yes! His head shot up and he gave Riga the biggest grin alive. His stump of a tail went insane as he stood and waited for Riga to join him.

He lead the way, keeping close to share body heat with his friend as they headed to one of the smaller frozen falls. The moon was out and it did a wonderful job of making the frozen fall sparkle and glitter, the snow catching it and making it seem like a mystical landscape. Earlier Ragnarok had caught a dumb turkey still out in the cold and he had plucked and stashed it here for them to enjoy.

“Thank you Riga, uhm I was thinking, well you know. This was where you saw me climbing and our friendship really took off you know so it’s a great place to revisit. An.. and. I caught us dinner if you would like!” Rag explained, going to pull the turkey out and present it to Riga happily. He patted the spot next to him, offering to share body warmth while they conversed and enjoyed the area.

Riga

Riga felt warm all over. Did-did he really feel the same way she felt about him? The thought made the females brain crash.

Rag’s enthusiasm kept all the negative thoughts out of the she-wolf’s mind as she followed him closely and away from the den. The moons light cascaded over the enveloping frozen forest, brightening Ragnarok’s handsome features “Thank you Riga,...”

“It really is,” It really was. “I’m so glad we crossed paths with each other.”

Riga watched the taller male pull a turkey into view. Her stomach growled at the scent of the kill. She then stepped over to lay side by side with her friend. Pushing her head into his fur for warmth. “Thank you…” Riga sighed, eyes half lidded with contentment.

Ragnarok

Ragnarok was babbling. He knew he was but it was such a beautiful night. It made such a great time. Riga curled her head into his fur and Ragnarok places his head and top of hers. He gave her a soft kiss on top of her head and shared the moment before taking off a leg and handing it to Riga and him taking the other.

“No seriously. Thank you. It’s really nice to have...to...to have someone as beautiful as you be my friend. Especially with my face the way it is.” He gave a wry smile before taking a careful bite of the turkey leg and waiting for Riga to say something. Yet the cold was sweeping into his fur and he knew Riga was getting cold as well. Even with the view he didn’t want to risk Riga getting sick.

“I know I might need to cut this short due to the cold, don’t want you to get sick, but uhm uhm I like you Riga. I don’t know…” He gulped.
“I don’t know what will happen but I like you and I’m hoping you will consider going on a second date with me?” He chuckled slightly before looking down at her.

“I know it seems dumb, this dating thing. It’s just something Sombra wolves did to see if they...if they can make it with another wolf.” He explained gently, eyes sincere as he explained his reasoning. He however wouldn’t tell Riga he spoke with her father. Oh no. He would be too embarrassed. He was always embarrassing himself now as he waited for her response.

Riga

The night really was beautiful.

“Rag,” she chuckled. “There is nothing wrong with your face, scars don’t define who you are,” The she-wolf gave him a meaningful glance. “Your heart does.”

Riga tore off a piece of the turkey given to her. “You have a good heart for every wolf to admire, remember that.”

When the large brown wolf made his confession, the turkey she was eating fell out of Riga’s mouth. All kinds of emotions flooded through the wolf’s body. She liked him too. More than she realized. The date thing sounded so strange but wholesome at the same time. It could work.

“I’d love to do this again,” she gathered her courage and licked Rag tenderly on the nose. “I like you too…”

It may just work.
