You know what's annoying. When people will defend bad changes in gameplay by saying "It's more realistic!" but will at the same time completely overlook other changes in the gameplay (for better or for worse) that make the game less realistic.

I hate it when people pick and choose like that. But more importantly, I hate it when people hide behind the "realism" argument when defending bad game design.

I only bring this up because when I brought up that the plastic cutlery couldn't be used for digging out walls anymore, that was the first response I got. "Oh it's more realistic like that. You wouldn't be able to dig out a wall with a plastic fork anyway."
Well there was a REASON why that unrealistic game mechanic was implemented in the first place! Also there are plenty of parts in the game which are now LESS realistic (as detailed in this comic), so they definitely didn't change that part to make the game more realistic overall! It was a bad design decision is what it is!
Now all we have left is a useless remnant from a better game. No joke. You can still pick up the cutlery, but they're completely useless now. Thus making you wonder why they're even still there. They had a very good reason for being there in the first game, but in the second... they only seem to be there to tell you that they once considered not messing up that game mechanic.

What I'm trying to say is that people use the "realism" argument for games, in a similar way to how everyone else uses the "you can't do better, so you have no right to complain" argument for everything else. Which is equally if not more stupid, because if you had to be able to do make something of equal or better quality to have an opinion, than there would be no professional critics.
You don't need to be a chef to know that there shouldn't be a fly in your soup!
