Speedpaint

Scales. Since I wanted a range of characters for the spree, I took the chance to draw one with scales. As a kid I used to try and do ballpoint pen dragons, since I was convinced they were absolutely the coolest, but although they were fairly decent, I usually ran out of patience to fill them all in and left them incomplete. The one time I did a full dragon with scales was when I did an acrylic painting of a blue dragon by putting down the base colour and then adding scales in varying hues and tones over the top. It turned out pretty good then, so I gave the same technique a shot with this piece as well, and I'm super excited with how it turned out. Scales take a bit of time and fiddling around, but the result can be so satisfying
