It's been a while, and I've been itching to revisit my faux-dichro technique. I love the look - the colorful metallic flecks on black really are reminiscent of dichroic glass, but it's done in polymer clay and metallic foil. I tried to space out the flecks some more this time. I was going less for scales and more for a spacey, starry sort of look. I don't really think I succeeded, but at least the result is pretty, plus I got to use my super-shiny super chameleon flakes on the horns and wings, which was a lot of fun. In keeping with the space theme, this dragon holds a moon in his tail and wears a star on his forehead (though you can't really see it in this shot).
Crafted from polymer clay, gilding foil, alcohol ink, Solar Color Dust's super chameleon flakes, glass beads, and Swarovski crystal elements. A truly mixed media project. xD He'll be going to Otakon with me this weekend!
I made this dragon on stream last week, but the webcam doesn't do super great with the colors, so it was probably really boring to watch, sorry! My next sculpting stream</span> is tonight from 7-10pm PDT, and I'll be doing something more colorful. Probably some glass-eyed dragons.
