HL :: App - Nathan

Finally, Nathan's well deserved update! It's mostly cosmetic, nothing major changed (other than the fact his art is more proportioned so he isn't like daddy long legs lmao) but I did rewrite a lot of it to be better, mostly his personality and history. Next up is Erik's revamp!

 Personality:
     Nathan is, first and foremost, a very caring individual. He finds it incredibly hard not to help others in need, and is always looking for friends in new places. He’s easy to talk to, and is willing to be a shoulder to cry on or somebody to listen, or even someone to do all the talking if need be. It’s very rare to find him in a bad mood, especially after having his twins, and he’s a living embodiment of what being a dad is all about. It’s almost strange how positive he tends to be, and nowadays you’ll rarely see a frown on him. But, he’s a by-the-book optimist who tries to see the best in everyone, sometimes being too trusting. He’s also grown rather competitive in some aspects as well, particularly in a certain yearly fighting event...

 History:
    Nathan was raised by his adoptive parents since an early age; two florists that gave him and his siblings all the love in the world. He was too young to remember his actual parents, but he never minded- he couldn’t ask for a better family. But, what he did mind was when he was growing up, how often he was mercilessly teased and bullied simply for his pink hair and being too ‘girly’ compared to the other boys his age. Years of being made fun of made him determined to stand up for himself and to others that were bullied, but that often led to schoolyard fights after defending classmates from getting picked on. It got him in trouble a lot, even though he was often on the losing end, due to the school’s zero tolerance policy. But it was worth it to him, if he could get the bullies to back off even a little. As he grew older, the bullying was less frequent in attempts to not get caught, but it was much more aggressive when he ran into a particular gang of bullies. He refused to fight back, at least not on the physical level they were using, but years of dealing with it finally got to him. He could only patch up the mental, emotional, and physical wounds for so long, and it led to him concluding it had to stop.

The next time the bullies tried to rough him up, Nathan lashed back and didn’t hold himself back- as much as he regrets it. It ended with a broken nose, a near expulsion from school, and a nasty spat between him and his father. He was fed up and tired, his pride not being the only thing wounded from the ordeal, and just… ran away from it all. He disappeared for a little over a week, unsure what to do next.

When he returned, exhausted and hungry and apologetic, his family scolded him- but took him back with open, forgiving arms that he was grateful to fall into. When he started to go back to school, no one picked on him again, but as collateral, he’d earned the reputation of the kid who finally snapped. Most of his classmates watched him with weary eyes and muted whispers, but he just resigned to the vicious cycle, telling himself it didn’t matter anymore since he only had a few years left of school. He was fine not bothering with other people, even if meant becoming a bit of a loner. But, it didn’t stop his determination to help others, and a year later he found his old bullies harassing a girl half his size. As soon as he stepped in, they backed off, knowing full well it wasn’t worth getting into another fight with him.

The girl he had defended thanked him profusely, and she and her best friend quickly found themselves stuck to Nathan like glue. They refused to let him be a loner, despite his resignation to not having friends, and with it his reputation began to improve. Before he knew it, the girls, Lynn and Kavita, were his two best friends. They became a very close trio, and the pair managed to turn Nathan’s pessimism into optimism, replacing bad memories with as many fun and happy ones they could manage. They all stayed very close, the three of them attending a local university and Nathan working at his parent’s shop after high school, but the time came where his two best friends left to start their own lives. Watching them go made Nathan realize that he, too, didn’t want to stay stagnant in one place- he loved his family and the flowers, but he couldn’t imagine himself spending the rest of his life their. So, after plenty of research and saving, he said goodbye to his family, finding a new life running a farm on a tiny island chain by the name of Raccolto.

After years of running his farm and settling into his own life, Nathan decided to raise ranch animals as well, adding a gaggle of animals to his already large family of pets. He even found the love of his life on the islands, his amazing wife Isabelle, and couldn’t be happier to spend his life living with her and their two, beautiful twins Heath and Camellia. If anything, Nathan can’t say that he made a mistake moving to Raccolto.

 Talents:
- Fluent in French - his mother, being French herself, taught him how to speak at a young age. He’s a bit rusty though, since he usually only speaks it to try and impress Isabelle.

- Juggling - picked up a hobby one day to entertain his younger relatives. He put it down for a while due to its silliness, but found out Heath and Camellia love watching so he’s practicing again.

- Photography - Nathan discovered photography from his father’s old albums, and learned how beautiful pictures could be, and fell in love with taking pictures. He’s already got quite the collection of them with his family!

- Playing Harmonica - A natural, he picked it up as a joke and found himself to be quite talented at it, though it is the only instrument he can play. He did recently pick up a flute and some instrument lessons as well!

- Green Thumb - taught how to take care of the plants in the shop by his parents, he knows how to tend to a lot of flowers, herbs, and other plants. Made him quite exceptional as a farmer, but not quite helpful for his ranch animals.

 Funfacts:
- He is mostly a pacifist and will only fight if the need arises… Or, if the yearly Fighting Tournament is going down. He goes all out for it, he’s in it to win it so he can finally retire.
- Griffin, his Growlithe, was originally a stray that would chase him home from school. He didn't expect to take the pup in until one day he found the Growlithe injured from a fight with a bigger dog.
- Nathan's nose is slightly crooked from the fact that he broke it in a fight in high school.
- Nathan used to be afraid of the bigger livestock Pokemon, but thanks to Isabelle he’s pretty much conquered that fear. He’s still rather weary and won’t let the twins go anywhere near the animals, though.
- Trying to wake him up some mornings is like trying to wake up a Snorlax- near impossible unless he smells good food. His kids crying is an instant wake up, though.
- He's prone to blurt out things and do random, stupid activities when drunk. Also a lightweight. Because of the aforementioned things he doesn’t drink much.
- Since his parents are florists, he's very knowledgeable about all type of flowers, which helped influence his decision to become a farmer. He very fond of some flower patches he likes to tend to though, as well.
- Nathan is sensitive about his ears and sometimes, having pink hair. He doesn’t like to be teased about it, since it reminds him of his childhood, but he makes jokes about it himself. It really depends on how close you are to him to get to say anything about them.
- Nathan gets upset about dying plants, flowers, and trees very easily and will have to hold himself back from scolding their owners for their poor care.
- Nathan has 3 sisters and 1 brother, all adopted like he was. Melanie, the oldest, is set to take over the family florist shop when their parents retire.
- His hair will fluff up (much like cotton candy) after he dries his hair etc. after he gets out of the rain.
- Nathan kinda has two left feet when dancing, but he’s been practicing every once and awhile. If he can’t dance with Isabelle properly, what kind of husband would he be?
- Griffin, his Arcanine, is no longer allowed inside his house considering the new size and his destructive power.(Don't worry, he got his doggy a nice, big, expensive doghouse instead!)

Cute Charm - The opponent has a 30% chance of being induced with Attract when using an attack, that requires physical contact, against this Pokémon. -- Nathan usually does NOT want this to go in effect, since he doesn’t want that kind of attention from anyone other than Isabelle. He does joke that that’s how he got her to fall in love with him, though.

 Moveset:
▋ Copycat - Nathan remembered this move from his childhood, and how much fun it was too. After all, it was great fun to be able to use moves he couldn’t naturally. Plus, who knows, it could come in handy someday...

▋ Sing- Nathan rarely uses this except to put the twins to sleep if they’re particularly fussy. It is prone to put people in the surrounding area to be put to sleep if they're not aware or do not cover their ears, so he usually does it when he’s alone with them.

▋ Dazzling Gleam - He doesn't have much of a practical use for it other than for pure entertainment, mostly for his pets, his little sister, or the twins. It potentially packs a punch, but generally, it’s something he doesn’t use too much.

▋ Psychic- Nathan's most useful move, he uses it to harvest crops with ease and do a lot of his daily tasks. He can use it to pick nearby objects (what couch-potatoes wish they could do to get the remote!) and also lift items or people at will. He cannot use it on himself, however, but he can use it on something else and then ride on it, albeit not for long.
