This is another one of those characters I made early in life, specifically in 2002 when Kids WB was still on TV. And 2002 was when the show Mucha Lucha was first announced, a cartoon about three young luchadors living in a town full of masked wrestlers, and all of them have superpowers, mostly involving some kind of shapeshifting into things usually based on their individual themes. And when this show was first announced, the commercials said that we can go on their offical website where they had a luchador-based character maker that you can also submit to a gallery where the makers of the show can have your character appear in the show, mostly at the end of the intro sequence where a school photo showing the three main characters, the school faculty and a couple of young luchadors (some made with the character creator) is shot.

So me and my little brother, ages twelve and five respectively, decided that we both can give it a shot. So we both created a character, with my brother making a sea-based character called "Deep Shark" and mine was this character shown here, "Hot Rock." I don't think I took a screenshot of those characters, so I had to do Hot Rock entirely by memory. Though even then I mostly remember the mask, which was nothing like the new version shown here. I think they both appeared in the intros at one point, but I'm not entirely sure.

Well for this version of Hot Rock, I'm gonna do something I don't normally do when redoing my earlier characters. Turn the original character from a good guy into a villain, as I believe I have done plenty of heroes for Sargasso already and I need to add more villains to help balance things out.

To give a summary about this character, Hot Rock comes from a world where their is a major population of superbeings all over the world. But here the superhumans who do not want to do crimefighting have their own jobs, with the most popular being the world of wrestling. So the wrestling world in America has two different leagues, The Human Wrestling Division for the normal human wrestlers, and The Man God Federation for superhumans. And as you could tell, the later is much more popular then the human league due to the super wrestlers using their abilities to better wow the crowd.

And with Hot Rock, coming from a south Arizonian town near the Mexico border, wants to be the greatest, just like his parents; El Estrella Pheonix, a fire/volcano-based wrestler and La Maritima, an ocean-based wrestler. Both of whom were very popular in their respective divisions due to their finishers: The Pheonix Star Fall & The Leviathan of Legend.

While Hot Rock is more like his dad in the powers department, his little brother, Deep Shark was more like his mother. And both had the tendency to get into contests with each other to see who is the best. And Deep Shark was the winner in the majority of these contests, causing Hot Rock to get more and more envious, especially when Deep Shark gets more praise then himself even as he tried so hard to do the right thing. So Hot Rock decided to settle their rivalry once and for all, a wrestling match between the two.

Though what Deep Shark didn't know at the time was that Hot Rock was training in secret to replicate his father's signature finisher, which involves jumping up into the air, engulfing ones self in flames and creating wings of fire, and then dive-bombing straight onto the opponent in a fiery explosion. And the only move that has ever matched it was The Leviathan of Legend, which Deep Shark was still too young to fully master.

So their match started and both at first were evenly matched, but over time Deep shark gained more and more of an advantage as Hot Rock was getting more and more frustrated with his brother countering his attacks. To the point that when Hot Rock finally managed to knock him down, he decided to use The Pheonix Star Fall to end it. Which horrified both parents since The Pheonix Star Fall is very dangerous without the years of proper training to temper it as without the proper amount of control, it could actually kill the one on the receiving end. And as Hot Rock descended onto his brother, a rainbow-colored portal appeared in front of Hot Rock, and he dove straight into it without any chance of changing his trajectory.

Hot Rock's fire was extinguished as he flew through the vortex, and unlike many others that traveled through these portals, he actually stayed conscious as he fell, until he ended up in the hideaway of The Aberrant Men, at this time with members, Za Naked Foot, Pimple Puss and Dana Backslide. If it was a change by the energies of The Sea or not, Hot Rock decided to join The Aberrant Men, as he was sick and tired of doing "The Right Thing" and getting nothing in return. And Hot Rock's powers, such as his Fire Breath which can melt through steel, were useful both in robberies and against heroes like The Weird Boys.

Though the idea of Hot Rock reforming isn't out the window. Whose to say that Hot Rock doesn't have a chance of getting that idea about what Doing The Right Thing actually means.

This character was made using Hero Machine 3.

Hot Rock's a good character for me to use as a minor supporting villain.I'll change some of the backstory but his ethnicity will remain the same and he'll still be from an Arizonian town near the Mexican border.

And I'll absolutely keep the heat-proof Luchador uniform!

I like how he was originally a good guy but became a villain.Marvel and DC have done that with some of their characters as have some other publishers.

Presenting some Heroes as ones that for whatever reason can turn bad and be corrupted is a creative angle to take. That was the whole basis of DC's 1991 ''Armageddon 2001''story-line-how Hawk of Hawk and Dove would later become the Super Villain and oppressive evil tyrant in a bleak, dark and dystopian future known as Monarch.

And to your point about Hot Rock possibly reforming, that's happened too, in comics. Because if you think about it,as a group of writers for the Batman comics(Frank Miller among them) at an event sponsored by Amazon,I believe, discussed how interesting(and boring)it would be if Super Hero comics were about reforming Super Villains and turning them into positive and productive members of society and giving them applicable skills and education to do that instead of having the heroes beat up(and sometimes kill villains)and bring them to justice, only to have them inevitably escape from prison or whatever holding facility that it is that they're in or be released from prison and to have to do the same thing all over again(or to do it with new villains as the heroes aren't actually deterring crime, illegal activity and evil-and the same thing applies to space heroes and cosmic heroes).

I agree with the writers that that ALONE as the premise for a comic would be pretty boring but I do like the idea of Heroes trying to rehabilitate criminals and deter future crime, that being incorporated as PART of a Super Hero story where there's action and fighting and everything else is a good and reasonable idea for a story.
