Description
The moon peeks from behind the clouds
And mist winds a freezing shroud
between the trees and about me
But I'm no mere chicken, you see
Others might be put off by that lantern
But you see with me it won't happen
I am a rockstar among my kind
No, it's not a costume, you blind?
And if a ghoul comes ambling
I won't be going scrambling
I'll sing him away, away, away
And back in the crowd he will stay
My only concern these nights
Is that I not catch the blight
Nor meet with a singing dragon
Tempting me with a bottomless flagon.

Drawn and written for #inktober2018 today's prompt was "chicken." I pondered drawing a dragon cooking chicken, and a group being chickens, and I pondered a chicken costume... then a chicken in a costume. I went online and did an image search for chickens to see what breed caught my eye, leaning toward a rooster since the last book I illustrated for I drew a hen in. I stumbled on the most flamboyant rooster ever who somehow reminded me of the lead singer from Def Lepard. I pondered a chicken dressing as a rock star... and then one that had done so for so long he thought he WAS a rock star. Thus we have Halloween Chicken for #Inktober.
I started with the Pilot Cavalier again. Then I thought on a tiny splash of color for the moon. Then I thought Halloween Chicken really needed color to his plumage. Then the trees formed themselves pretty much. I remembered to sign this one before scanning.
