You got yourself a Nordanner! Now you need to know how to register it in order to start your journey!
So, now that you’ve got a horse and are ready to make it official, what’s the first step?

Before Registration, make sure:
  • That you own the horse which you are trying to register. If you have more than one account, the horses will have to be owned by the account you are trying to register under.
    • If you have more than one account associated with Nordanner, you must send a note to the group listing them all so we can keep track of them. See Group Rules for more information!
  • That you are submitting your registration image to the proper folder -- we have the Official Registration Folder and Official Registration Refs folder -- both are acceptable folders to submit to!
  • That if the horse's design is on the current form of the foal lines it is uploaded to Storkdanner, and not your account, or another person's personal account.
    • Older versions of the foal lineart are still accepted. However if you wish to log your horse's kaaring under the current system you will have to recreate it! This is a good time to stop and do so!
  • That you have filled out the entire registration form below, or if using a similar/custom form, that all of the sections listed below are included and easy to find! (It helps if your form is set up in the same order as the form below.)
  • That you have filled out the lineage correctly, using the current ID list to get the proper links. More information on lineage can be found here: A Guide to Understanding Lineage
    • Use text links, not image links, and you must fill out the full lineage grid. If your horse's lineage doesn't fill the grid, leave unknown in the blank spaces.
    • ONLY link living horses.
    • Deceased horses should be in plain text.
  • Please do not list or tag the founder/cofounder on your registration image -- rather, use the Nordanner Credits journal as listed below!

Making Your Registration Image:

  • Draw your Nordanner! It can be digital or traditional art, full or partial body, but it must be colored.
    • Artwork may be done by yourself or commissioned (as long as credit is given, and you have permission to upload it to your account!).
    • You may use a new, unique image for your horse, or you may use a reused base -- however, reused bases will not count for kaaring. See: How To: Counting Kaaring
  • The design must match the import image/approved foal design.
  • You can use potions that do not alter the design of the horse - wings, tails, horns, etc are allowed.
  • Dyes, contacts, scars, and any other design-altering items must be clearly listed in the description somewhere.

Registration Information

Your Nordanner requires specific information that is needed in order to get your horse registered. The layout of this information can be somewhat stylized or customized to your tastes, however, all of the need-to-know information MUST be easily accessible to our admins, or they will require you to change your formatting. For faster registration, we recommend keeping your registration form in a similar order to the form below.

TITLE: “ID Name.”
  • Your image must be titled “ID Name.” Eg. 1088 Candle in the Darkness
  • Always put your ID number first when registering. ID should not be removed from the title, even after registration.
    • We use "ID Name" format as it makes it easier to process anything related to the horse such as ownership transfers, deceasing, registration, kaaring, etc. Admin will search for your horse's information in our toolsets using its unique ID number -- so it should always be written first!
    • If this information is changed after registration, and the ID number is not listed first, you will be unable to request a kaaring plaque, familiar log, or have breedings processed by that horse until it is updated to the proper format!
  • No additional information should be in the title. The horse will be registered with the name exactly as it was written. (stable prefixes excluded)
  • Once registered, names may not be changed unless an item is used. (Stable prefixes excluded)
  • Every Nordanner, import or offspring, has its very own unique ID number. This number is how we identify a Nordanner as an individual.
    • Names may be reused, and do not have to be unique to each horse. With over 18,000 horses registered, it is impossible for us to catch and track every instance of names being reused.

Registration Process:

After your Nordanner has all of the basic information ready, and your Nordanner has its own completed reference page, you're ready to actually submit your Nordanner to the group!
  • One last time, check over your information! Make sure all links in your lineage are current, all of the information is filled out, etc.
  • Directly below the reference image, there will be an "Add to Groups" button (it's an icon that looks like two people).
  • Click on that button.
  • Scroll through all of your groups until you find Nordanner.
  • Click on the Nordanner group.
  • Find either the Official Registration Folder or the Official Registration Refs folder.
  • Click on that folder to submit your reference to it!
The submission will then appear in your correspondence, and a message will be sent to your inbox - DO NOT DELETE THIS. Once the correspondence says "approved", you may then delete it.  If there are any changes that need to be made, an admin will leave you a comment in the comments section of this correspondence!
If you accidentally lose where it is, you can always visit this link: www.deviantart.com/corresponde…

Deadlines and Reclaims

  • There are no deadlines for designing or registering your horse, you can take as long as you please!
  • There are no activity rules and your horses will never be reclaimed if you choose not to draw them.
  • Group reclaims are handled on a case-by-case basis, and are not performed UNLESS a user has been permanently banned from the group. In such cases where this has happened or may happen in the future, all processed reclaims must be renamed and redesigned.
    • Nordanner is not responsible for any lost investments through private sales of deceased horses or horses from banned members who cannot send ownership transfers.
    • If you are permanently banned from the group, no refunds will be issued for any reclaimed horses, lost slots or in-game items and currency.

Once your horse is registered, you have the reins, so to speak! As long as you follow the rules of the breed outlined in the Group Rules, you have full control. You may use your Nordanner in your stable, as a private OC in your stories, however you please! You do not have to follow the Nordanner headcannon if you don't wish to.

Some Registration F.A.Q:

Q. So, I have to use the “ID Name” format, but I like it better “Name ID.” Can I change it?
A: No, you may not change this. We require the ID to be listed first in order to make it easier on admin when processing things using our toolsets.

Q. Can I include additional information on my registration image that is NOT a part of the registration form above?
A: Yes! You may alter the form however you wish, and include any other information you desire -- we only ask that the information we ask for in the form is easy for us to find!

Q. Can I change my registration image?
A: Yes! You may update your registration image at any time! To change your image, edit the existing deviation with the new file. Feel free to re-upload the original for kaaring or record-keeping purposes! Please also note: In order to gain kaaring from the new registration image, you will have to resumbit it to the monthly kaaring journal on Nordministrator for the points to be logged on your horse's kaaring log!

Q. One of my horse's ancestors is deceased, but I still have the link to their reference, can I link it anyway?
A: You will have to change deceased horses to plain-text only in the lineage grid. We require this because sometimes deceased Nordanners are moved to other breeds, and the reference is recycled and reused for that other breed. Please reference the ID List to determine which of your horse's ancestors are still living or deceased, and use the reference links provided on the ID list when filling out the lineage portion of your horse's registration.

Q. I’m moving accounts; will my horses move with me?
A. No, not automatically. If changing accounts, you’ll need to send an ownership transfer for each of your Nordanners, in numerical order from low -> high, including the ID and name of each of the horses, and @ the account you are transferring it to.

Q. I want a pretty reference format, not the same generic thing! Can I do that?
A. Yes, so long as it’s still easy to read, contains the necessary information, and we can find all of the necessary information without having to spend several minutes hunting for it (aka the design and the geno are in super tiny font buried in a hard-to-find area, etc).

Q. My reference submission expired; what should I do?
A. Oops! Sorry about that. Should your submission expire, resubmit and let us know in the comment section of the new correspondence (linking back to the expired correspondence)! You will not lose a horse to reclaims due to group delays -- that is no longer something the group practices, and hasn't practiced for many years!

Q. So...when I sell my horse, I have to send an ownership transfer?
A. Yes, with ID numbers listed in order from low -> high, including the ID and name of each of the horses, and @ the account you are transferring it to. This Ownership Transfer, or OT, cannot be sent by the buyer, it must be sent by you. If you have multiple accounts, you must send the OT from the account which is listed as owning the horse in the ID list!

Reclaim Specific Questions:

Q. So...how do I reclaim?
A. We no longer accept reclaims unless a member has been banned from the group entirely, or unless real-life money was spent on the horse and it has been more than a month since the OT was sent (See Group Rules Number 4 and 10). In those rare cases, the group will handle reclaims.

Q. I own a foal of an inactive parent, what do I have to do to be able to reclaim it?
A. Nothing. Foal owners have no claim on their sire/dam, or of any inactive horse in the lineage, whether it be an ancestor or descendant. The group no longer has activity rules.

Q. The group has done a reclaim, and the other owner won't let me have the foal, but I want it! What happens now?
A. This falls under private sales, and the group will not step in and handle this unless it becomes an issue of harassment or other broken group rules.

Q. So...no one can take my horse if I miss the registration deadline?
A. That's right!

Q. The group reclaimed a horse of mine. What does that mean?
A. If this was done prior to 2018-2019 -- Generally, that means the ID has been recycled and given to another Nordanner to use. You retain the rights to your design, however and may use it either on another foal or in another breed. If the reclaimed horse was part of the 2020 reclaims, it was handled a bit differently. The horse geno, pheno, and slots lists + previous owner information was all retained by the group and the horses given new names, designs, and owners. Again, you retain the rights to the horse's design. Any future reclaims by the group will be handled on a case-by-case basis -- see the above question "So....how do I reclaim?" and the Group Rules for more information.
