Bushboosky! This sleepy guy sure was one of my most work-intense plushies of this year. 97 hours total!
About making the plush:
Where do I even start? So many details and steps, haha.
First off, the laying pattern was a challenge since each leg has its own angle / posing, and all the decorative leg layers had to fit them perfectly. I started out with a small prototype and upscaled the pattern later.
The most intense part were the legs! Thanks to thoroughly experimenting with and tweaking the pattern, I actually managed to achieve their shape without having to thread sculpt by hand. Proud of that!
The decorative layers on top of them are a chapter for themselves, haha. I actually made embroidery files for all of them - 12 files and 12 frames for 6 finished pieces to be exact. My biggest embroidery frame is split, so it was an extra challenge to make all of them fit together seamlessly. And on top of that, the split frame was still not big enough to fit the entire pattern piece for most of them. So I had to extend them manually with a hand-guided satin stitch from my sewing machine. Needless to say, I was pretty exhausted after these pieces were finally complete. They took me over 20 hours to make! And that does not include sewing them onto the plush by hand or drawing their pattern. (Also, I did not go the lazy way of not adding the white zigzag details to the inside of the pieces that wrap around the leg. All of them are detailed on both sides. )
The next step was to make a plush version of a bush for the hair parts. I actually was searching for a fluffier type of fabric for this purpose at first, but had to give up since I could not find anything suitable. I decided that sewing many round pieces together would be the way to go! “Project: A million green balls” went well and I am happy with it. (my fingers and wrists were protesting at times, but are now recovered. Weeee (Y) )
Time spent:
Total: 97 hours
Pattern: 38,5 hours
Embroidery: 19 hours
Handsewing: 13 hours
The remaining 36.5 hours consist of cutting, ironing, stuffing and machine sewing.
For those wondering: Bushboosky is a character from the DSiWare game “Crystal Monsters”. The game screenshots itself made it hard to see what all the details even look like, and the commissioner was dedicated enough to have draw this reference.

Bushboosky belongs to Gameloft - the plush, its pattern and the photography are created by me.
Also I wanna say that that is WAY bigger than I thought from the original preview images! Like holy crap!
