My entry for HeroMachine's Character Design Contest #389.
Laurie Melville always knew she was different. She had a special talent to perceive and manipulate other people's emotions since she was a child, could communicate with animals as one does with another person, and even read people's minds sometimes. When she became a teenager, those powers became stronger, and she gained the ability to fly, cast magic and control nature - and strange glowing markings started appearing on her skin.
When she revealed all of that t0o her mother, she learned the truth: she was not her mom's true child. She wasn't even human, in fact. She was a Changeling, a fairy raised by humans after replacing a mortal baby. Now all grown up, she began using her magical powers to protect the people of her village from the invisible dangers that wander the Scottish forests, while searching more about her origins to maybe find her birth family.
