Literature Text
she invented a great silence
so she wouldn't have to hear
what she thought
(she wanted)
some say some
ghosts
don't know
they're ghosts
(some say)
my apartment's haunted
so she wouldn't have to hear
what she thought
(she wanted)
some say some
ghosts
don't know
they're ghosts
(some say)
my apartment's haunted

Scream
I stared at the mirror today
trying to remind myself
that I am a hyena.
Misunderstood, but
great.
Hell - I’m lying
to you. To the world.
To myself.
I’m not even a
cicada -
At least they
have a voice
to scream.
& I wish
I could scream.
So loud the sound
breaks eardrums.
So loud
that all the voices
in my head
shut up.

Literature
please teach me
Little waterfall,
churning the beautiful rocks broken,
please teach me;
show me how to be happy,
to dance in place for hours
with nothing more to show for it
but more dancing tonight and tomorrow and tomorrow;
show me how to be callous,
to pick the sparkle from the granite
and funnel it out to the fish
and the propellers;
show me how to be brave,
slicing walls in half and in half
even though they will change
your shape;
please teach me, little waterfall,
to live life above the rocks
rather than below them.

How to spend it
If
we are able
to choose
how we spend
eternity,
I would pick
that moment
in autumn
when you
came to my apartment
from the beach,
the smell of wind
on you
as you ran in
laughing
and fell on your back,
breathless across the carpet,
asking me
to come back out
with you
into
all of it.
This time
I would
go.

I'm really a fan of the title.
"she invented a great silence

(she wanted)"
I love the flow of this poem, and these lines really spoke to me. I think it's... funny, and sad, how often we run from ourselves and our thoughts. Distract ourselves to drown out what we really think and feel.
