Yuaei

Yuaei rolled her eyes in playful exasperation at her cousin’s advice to get comfy, “I assure you, I am quite comfortable. Now come, let’s hear it!” she urged, her attention fixed on her black-and-gold cousin’s face.

Eros

She giggled at the excitement that Sun Cousin was feeling, “Well...It was just a little walk through Highvalley really, we had a little chat and exchange of words, he also asked me about the Gods and even if he’s skeptical he’s also very respectful, it’s just...I cannot explain when and how I started to feel this way!” A little blush crossed her face for a few moments.

In reality it was a mystery even to herself how she ended up having such feelings towards Sir Aragon, she didn’t mind them though, such warm feeling and he was still available so…

Maybe she had a chance? Both were single and from the same status, also not counting how good looking they were, it would be a perfect fit!

Yuaei

Yuaei listened to Eros speak about Aragon, nodding to show that she was listening. Skeptical but respectful. That wasn’t quite good enough for Yuaei. A Havirian she-wolf should have a Havirian husband. Though even she had to admit that such a wolf was so hard to come by around here… so she shouldn’t scrutinize Eros for her affection for a non-Havirian wolf. Perhaps he did not see the light of the Gods, but that could change with time. And if not, then… there could be love without a shared faith, she supposed. How tragic it would be upon death, however, when they were separated, leaving Eros alone to wait for him for lifetimes yet…

I mustn’t overreact… Eros is happy, that is what matters at the moment. After all… this doesn’t mean they are getting married tomorrow. Yes, perhaps marriage was not a certainty… but if it wasn’t… that means that heartbreak could happen instead. Certainly not a pleasant possibility either. Yuaei had never truly experienced romance, but she knew the various sides associated with such affection. Including the vulnerability. Eros was trusting Aragon when she admitted that she had these feelings… trusting him not to hurt her. Yuaei may not know the nature of their relationship, but she could inquire further. “And how does Aragon, feel? Does he return these emotions, do you know?” she asked, tilting her head as she listened to her cousin eagerly.

Eros

After telling everything she could think about to her cousin she felt relieved and happy, she needed to tell someone about it! And her beloved sister Livia was quite busy with her duties that she did not intend to interrupt with her blabbery.

At Yuaei’s question she sighed as she shrunk a little, one of her paws drawing circles at the ground with sad eyes, “ I dunno, I have not said anything to him as I fear rejection and...You know the laws here in Highvalley, he will probably end up in an arranged marriage before I can tell him anything...Even I wonder if we will get to be with someone we truly love or approve Sun Cousin…”

Her typical confidence in such moments of vulnerability seemed to become thin air, it was hard to accept and that was one of the things that did not made her be truly happy in Highvalley, all seemed so...False, twisted and wicked in her eyes, appearances that meant nothing because where the truth lied was completely different.

Yuaei

Yuaei paused thoughtfully at her cousin’s answer. Regardless of her own feeling about it, she wanted to help Eros, so she decided to try and problem-solve. “Yes, but often a male can chose his own mate, so he may request to be paired with you.” Yuaei ventured, “Perhaps, if he seems to reciprocate, you may drop some hints?” She gave a small smile, almost mischievous. If Yuaei ever found a wolf she cared to love in such a way, she was sure she would let them know, though perhaps in a subtle and graceful way at first. After all, perhaps Aragon wasn’t aware of Eros’ feelings, yet feels the same.

She listened on as Eros lamented about Highvalley’s marriage traditions. The white-and-gold she-wolf agreed. A female didn’t always have a say in who she was paired with. She wouldn’t be surprised if she were to be betrothed to someone. She was relieved that she hadn’t been so far, but there were many unmarried males in Highvalley, and her blood as the Havirian Princess was sought out by the pack. However she also believed that she was well respected, and so a reason why she wasn’t betrothed to begin with was so she could chose from the various options. She hoped it was that anyway. Either way, she wasn’t very concerned. Even if she was betrothed, she was confident that she could remove herself from any betrothal that she didn’t approve of… which would likely be all of them.

But she was unable to do much to stop Mohawk’s betrothal to Nike. Well, so far it seemed to have fallen to the back of King Rodwen’s concerns since it had not been made official. Once arrangements were being made, then she would reassess the situation. For now it was best to wait and see… anything could happen, after all.

It was hard to see Eros so discouraged. Yuaei leaned over, giving her Love Cousin an affectionate nuzzle. “Oh Eros… don’t worry. We’ll make sure that, when the time comes, you get a wolf that is worthy of you. I won’t let you get anyone less,” Yuaei said.

Eros

She knew that her cousin meant well, but her words were not reassuring as she knew very well how things unfolded in this pack, Eros knew her parents were only looking after her and her sister when they were sent here, but she has heard the stories of Havir and this place had none of it.

Sure the Wolvenking had a high appreciation for their culture, but he was one of the few who did and still it did not felt remotely like it, deep inside her Eros had started to have ugly feelings to such bizarre place.

At Yuaei’s nuzzle she giggled and returned her actions, “Thank you, though I also worry about you too, I do not want to see you unhappy and I cannot see any wolf worthy of your hand Sun Cousin…” And she felt it was true, none of this scumbags were anywhere near the reach to the heir of Havir, heir of the Gods, they were all low closed minded creatures who only seeked meaningless things in their pathetic lives, they lived an act, a lie, and she hated it, she hated it all.

Yuaei

Yuaei chuckled, “No need to worry about me,” the white-and-gold she-wolf insisted warmly, “I’m quite sure that if an unfavorable situation arises I will handle it appropriately.” Yuaei didn’t plan to be controlled by anyone. Although she respected King Rodwen and the ranks of the pack, at the end of the day she believed the only ones above her were the Gods.

She paused, looking at Eros thoughtfully through clear blue eyes. Then she spoke, “You know, Eros. We are not trapped here.” Yuaei hadn’t really thought of leaving Highvalley herself. But seeing Eros unhappy here, it made her wonder of their options. It would not be as simple as walking away, not with all the relationships they had established. But, as devout followers of the Havirian faith, this was their last lifetime on earth. Yuaei believed that it was important to try and find happiness, to enjoy it to the fullest before the start of their eternal life.

Eros

She turned her head to look at her cousin once more and she let out a tired laugh, her eyes went to the sky as she sighed. “I know, but I cannot just walk away from my family, even if I love you I also have my dear sister you know? If I go away I don’t know if I will be able to come back and visit you all, the Wolvenking might not want my presence again and even so I may come never to return, you can die in any moment…”

Eros wanted to go but at the same time she wanted to be with her family, her kin, they were so few and even now her parents were in one place and some of her siblings in others too…

Oh! How Eros wished her family could have stayed together in one place, therefore she would probably not feel so lost, so alone.

She looked back at Yuaei. “And you my dear cousin are not all mighty in this pack either, the next in heir despites us, even if Cousin Moon is to marry one of his daughters she’s the last one and has no control, even your new princess friend who I have heard loves her dear brother more than siblings should...I can see, hear and feel that affection…”

Though to be fair, what was expected in a culture of inbred wolves? She knew how Livie was with her paws full, compared to other packs they healers here had to deal with a lot because of the same problem.

Yuaei

Yuaei knew that Eros had a point. Who knows what King Rodwen would think of them if they decided to leave. Perhaps he would be amiable but he had just as much right not to be as well. It would be quite a risk. And then death… well, yes that was always a possibility as well she supposed. “You are young and strong, Eros! I’m sure the Gods have many more seasons planned for you yet,” Yuaei assured her, butting her gently with her head. Yuaei didn’t want to think about a time when Eros wouldn’t be around.

Yuaei giggled at Eros’ next words. “Not all mighty, you say? Try me,” she teased. Though she was only sort of joking. Yuaei didn’t think there was a problem that could arise that she could not solve if a solution must be found.

Yuaei did feel quite strongly for Sveta, and had ever since she was a pup. She was as close as a sister to Yuaei. The affection between Sveta and Vladimir was clear, though for it to be more than a sibling bond Yuaei could not say, and would not say. But either way, Sveta’s close relations to Vlad could only be a positive thing even if Yuaei didn’t like him herself. A wolf will fight their adversaries often unnecessarily, already expecting to oppose them. But with a friend, a wolf is more likely to listen and compromise. To have Sveta in Vladimir’s ear, giving him her fair council, that was better than no good wolf to help the future king. Tactfully glossing over the nature of the sibling’s affection, Yuaei replied, “It is always a good thing to have a friend on the opposing side. Sveta and Vlad’s friendship can only bring good things, as opposed to if our Crown Prince had no moral wolf to assist and guide him. When the time comes of course! Let us hope King Rodwen survives many seasons more.”

Eros

In response to her words and affection Eros bumped her head affectionately as she continued to speak. The way Yuaei talked was...So confident and any stranger would even think she was too part of the royal family in Highvalley. After all her Sun Cousin had the looks, manners and everything else that the Highbloods had-no…

Yuaei was prettier and purer than anyone in this ignorant pack. She was the daughter of the Last Ade. She was a Havirian and so was Yuaei’s Brother Moon. her siblings and herself also came from the same lineage. They were the legacy that was left from Havir. Even if they hold no power within Highvalley they had true power that came from their Gods.

It was better to let rest the intoxicating thoughts that Eros were having. She smiled. “Don’t say that! It is of bad omen to say such things from King Rodwen. Even if it is well intentioned. My father said to me that it called bad luck upon the named ones”. Her tone was soft and happy. Deep down Eros also wished the same for the Wolvenking who had never mistreated her family.

Yuaei

Yuaei was a practical wolf and rarely put stock into superstition, but the spiritual side of the young she-wolf certainly did allow for some wonderings about the impacts of a wolf’s words. After all, the Gods would often put toil and trial before their subjects, perhaps there was sense in the concept of not so plainly laying out a challenge for Them to instigate. Hopefully no bad luck would befall Rodwen on her account! She smirked at Eros’ scolding and answered lightly, “Really? Well in that case, I can think of a few others to name, I’m sure you can too!” Yuaei laughed, leaping playfully at her cousin to knock her over into the wind-swept, rocky grass. Then she added when a particularly chilly breeze swept over them, “It’s getting chilly, would you like to head back down?”

Eros

At her cousin’s reply Eros laughed as she was on the ground also thanks to Yuaei. She did feel better now. Somehow her Sun Cousin was a blessing in her life and she did it want to let her go so easily as wanting to abandon Highvalley. The risk was too much.

Eros nodded at her last question. “Of course, you can lead the way I’ll follow right behind you~”

Even though Eros’ cost was design for chilly weathers Yuaei’s was the opposite. She did not want her to get a food or something even if they were having a good time. After all, there would be another day to do the same. For now, this was good enough.
