"Why not show off if you've got something to show?" - January Jones

Paladin, also called "Pico" around the barn, is a cocky youngster ready to show the world how brilliant he is. If he were human, he'd run around in a suit all day and maybe even keep a peacock as a pet. Pico unites a few strange character traits in one horse. Sometimes he can be awfully stubborn and hard to handle. He's excitable and may run off if you try to catch him or he may prance around you for ages until you can get a lead rope attached to his halter. On the other hand Pico can be serious and protective over certain things, such as his food. It will certainly be interesting to see how his further development will affect his character.

B E H A V I O R

Quirks

  ›› Bucks, a lot, if you decide to ride him without lunging or leading him around for some time.
  ›› Loves his blankets. He gets cold easily.
  ›› May kick if he thinks you pinched him while tightening the saddle girth.
  ›› Loves other animals, unless they have horns.

✠ Likes: Jolly balls, showing off to other horses, being scratched behind the ears and on the chest
✠ Dislikes: People or other animals interrupting him while eating his hay or grain, Wind
✠ Worst Fear: Cows, Goats, basically animals with horns

✠ Herd Mentality: Holds a high position. Tends to be a little too dominant with other horses. Usually pastured alone or with CCrS Remigio.

✠ Favorite Treat: Apples

✠ General Behavior [ while being handled ]: Pico is a little difficult to handle sometimes, but won't throw a fuss usually. He likes people and will try to steal treats. Pico is still testing how far he can go, so an experienced handler is advised to take care of him.
✠ Behavior Under Saddle: His general attitude transfers to his behavior under saddle. Pico will buck occasionally and try to get control over the reins.

H I S T O R Y

Paladin was born and raised on the grounds of Calluna Crown Stud. He was somewhat anti-social as a foal, but as he grew he got better with other horses and people. Despite his unspectacular youth, Pico still developed a few undesirable character traits which may require further training down the road.
Once his basic program is completed, Paladin will start his training to become a show jumper.
