Alloy in Dance I-p17 first draft

The Cat Folk have lived in this alpine forest for 10,000 years or so. They have a vague idea of the surrounding areas, such as that there is a desert in the lowlands, but they don't know how big it is. Just that there are more mountains somewhere on the other side. (The continent of Hearthstone is about the same latitude as Africa or Australia, and the forest they live in is only temperate rather than tropical because it's elevated.)
