The Day Colors Went Away by musica-nota

The Old Will Turn Their HeadsOh the old will turn their heads
as this whole world filles with dread
Yes the old still turn their heads
As their people lie there dead
oh the old will turn their heads
as they struggle with the new
Yes the old will turn their heads
as they always do

The comedy that is lifeI try so hard, yet still I fail,
untill the day I die.
I learn from fail, I grow, I stand!
Lessons cold and sly.
But when I stop to try so hard
and just let life go it's way,
I get what I no longer search,
just in a different way.
I search for love, but what I find,
are friends that loved me from the start.
I search for answers but I found,
the questions were the answers at heart.
I search for myself, but in the end
I see what I became.
I'm me! The one I was looking for!
Without fighting I got there the same.
Life is worth fighting for, but don't go too far,
you are on the brink.
All the answers to whatever you seek,
are closer than you think.

HandshakeYoung March, although a messenger of Spring,
Gifts Winter with the lovely beads of snow,
For it is time of handshake between seasons.
And while the Northern winds are still in swing,
The days already have begun to grow,
And weather's creativity increases.

PastBefore you
memories were broken glass
shards that would slice joy and happiness
I hid these memories
in synthetic dreams
jars of silence unmarked and gray
these were the memories
long before your brightness
invading the jars
turning gray to the color of life
Dreams are real now
memories are welcome
when they are filled with you

Seven CutsLike a knife through hot butter,
You cut me,
Leaking red across hard floor,
Right through my defense,
The first cut was what you said,
How love was unreturned,
Into the skin that one went,
Scaring the skin,
The second were your pictures,
Snapshots of a life,
Without me,
That cut hits flesh,
The third is my imagination,
How I see you with others,
Who are not me,
Knife knicks the bone,
Fourth were your walls,
That I could never climb,
No matter how I tried,
Saw at my marrow,
Fifth is what you never said,
How you never cared,
Never loved the man who loved you,
Pierce the heart,
Sixth came when I confessed,
Vomit the feelings I held,
On deaf ears and blind eyes,
Stab deeper,
Seven was when I left,
And I tore out the knife,
My heart was still stuck to it,
It belongs to you

AddictLonging we linger
grasping for more
desperate in hunger
that is all we know
lost in the rapture
as want becomes need.

ptsdyou have choked on dirt
before, but this event
feels newly jarring.
coughing up a
quarry, you pretend
the trench has been
expelled; those of us that know you
watch the battle carve your face
into a smile.
play it often,
memories of when the war
was external. worry
that they're measuring
your teeth, or what remains.
coffee stains can be
removed; you grind.
when you wipe the sediment
from your lips,
it rasps them deep red.
we ask, but you shake
your head. the fallout
catches you at the ankles
and you refuse
to dig.
your grin begins to
wear a deeper groove,
we feel it wearing down
your soul, we hear it
scrape a home within you.
those of us that knew you
wonder where it
ends.
say it often and perhaps
you'll only suffocate
yourself.

proverbsa butterfly flutters by
and we wonder - where's the lie.
the smokescreen-accustomed eye
looks for glitches in the sky.
the bird stops flying, to ask why -
and may forget how to try.
all that glitters is not gold,
but even gold may leave you cold.
on the eyelids, spots of mold:
are you grown, or only old?
wealth is a sword against the bold;
all this mess has been foretold.
there's beauty beyond the skin-deep:
calcite relics of the sleep,
ones and zeroes - yours to keep;
and if you're still inclined to weep,
you might as well take the leap.

proverbs by librarian-of-hell

like a candle blowing outI stood at your arm
through windstorms
and windswept cocktail parties
through poster board chagrins
and screaming midnights
I took out the trash
and bundled worries
stole hours long away
and through it all
only wanted you to see
your own bright light
.
I took the bottle from your teeth
the cat out of your arms
and carved the keys
to safer engine casks
and when you melted down
took out
the moon-black holly
promised mistletoe and kissed
those latent fears away
.
I cannot help you from
this truth
my honesty like bruises
on your fragile image
I hoped your light would swallow
up that fastened fetter
but I cannot out-swim
a prison full of wanting
I cannot bail out
a ship that’s doomed to sink
