Description

Torgo, The Man Goat
Real Name:
Torgo
Powers: Satyr Physiology and Serving Empowerment
First Appearance: "Manos" The Hands of Fate (1966)
Equipment: The Staff of Manos - A magical staff that upon entering The Super-Sargasso Sea, allows it's wielder to summon red, spectral hands that can be commanded to do various tasks.

Origin
(---"
A rather unusual man that some thought was high on LSD, Torgo served as the caretaker for a property somewhere in Texas called the Valley Lodge. He was also the guardian of The Master and his wives, an undead cult that worships Manos, The God of Primal Darkness. Torgo is easily recognized by his "big knees", a staff topped with a stylized hand, and his weird, halting speech patterns.

In 1966, a family consisting of two parents - Michael and Margaret - and their young daughter, Debbie, arrived at the Valley Lodge after getting lost in the Texas back country. Torgo attempted to prevent the family from stopping for the night at the lodge of the Master. Finally relenting after Michael convinced him, he brought in their luggage. Upon catching wind of the family's arrival, The Master decided he wanted Margaret as his wife, but Torgo was determined not to let this happen - thinking that it was well past time for him to have a wife of his own - and intended to keep her from his polygamous Master.

When the Master awoke and found out that Torgo was coveting both his own wives and Margaret, he hypnotized Torgo and brought him into his tomb where he and his wives slept in suspended animation. There, Torgo was tormented by the Master's wives before the Master severed and lit Torgo's hand on fire. Torgo, in agony, fled the tomb, never to been seen again.

In the end, the Master managed to corner the family in the lodge. In his absence, Michael replaced Torgo as the one who takes care of the place while The Master was away.

However, it was never said that Torgo actually perished after he fled the tomb. The disgraced caretaker fled into the night, running as far as he could into the desert to not be caught by his master. He hobbled for what seemed like hours with his deformed knees not allowing him that much mobility. When the adrenaline finally wore off, Torgo collapsed onto the desert ground, the stump where his hand was still stinging with pain, but it was cauterized enough so as to not have the former caretaker immediately die from blood loss.

Torgo could only look up into the night sky before fatigue finally set in and he finally fell asleep. In his sleep he dreamed, dreaming about him with his own wife who he wished to cherish with all his heart. They danced all across a stage version of the tomb with Torgo actually able to dance gracefully without the handicap that is his imperfect knees.

However this pleasant dream was unfortunately not going to last for much longer, as he felt something jab him in the ribs and hearing a man call out.

"Hey... Hey buddy, you alright?"

Torgo finally opened his eyes seeing that the sky above looked more like a collage of nebulae with the sun high overhead, to his right he saw a red-haired man with an odd skin-color looking at him, the man was also holding onto a rather large shovel."---)

And yet another Re-imagining, one involving another of the "World's Worst Movies." Though unlike Plan 9, I think that title does apply to Manos since as some people have witness, it's rather boring in comparison to Plan 9. Boring in that you could make the movie better by cutting out 20 minutes of the actors just staring off into the distance as if waiting for their cue. It's best to watch the MST3K riff of the movie or the one done by Rifftrax in my opinion since they make Manos more bearable.

So about this version of Torgo. After Torgo woke up in The Super-Sargasso Sea, Torgo noticed that he had changed. You see, this version of Torgo isn't originally a saytr, but rather just a normal man with a debilitating deformity. But upon entering The Sea, he actually became a Saytr which resulted in his legs actually working properly along with regenerating his missing hand, though it was more bestial then his old hand. And since Torgo had no place to go or a purpose to call his own, Glen Pine suggested that Torgo could stay at his shack and work as a caretaker with him. Mostly since Torgo told Glen that he use to work as a caretaker.

Torgo was surprised that Glen was already willing to give Torgo a helping hand despite his appearance, but Glen told him that he had seen much stranger things then the goat man in his line of work.

So Torgo during the day watches over the Glen's grave-yard while the redhead goes out, either going into town to do errands or oddjobs. Or to places like a near-by university to take back a corpse that was stolen from either his grave-yard or the town's hospital or funeral parlor. And it was thanks to Glen that Torgo then became able to effective use a firearm to help protect the cemetery from graverobbers, be it when he's propped onto a wall or headstone to steady his aim.

And during his time with Glen, Torgo has encountered several of the common threats that Glen had to deal with on the regular, like a black-and-white, long-nailed vampire girl that fires lightning bolts from the antennae on her head. And first seeing this girl was love at first sight for Torgo, seeing her as the wife from his dreams.

This character was made using Hero Machine 3.

By the way, with Torgo and other characters from Public Domain movies being in The Super Sargasso Sea, do you have plans for putting any more characters from PD movies into Sargasso or The Kern-Verse? For the independent graphic novel/ comic book that I've got planned for my version of The Clock that will be part of The Triumphant Universe, I'm doing something that's almost like an experiment where I want to see if with the exception of Triumphant( who will be mentioned in the comic book), I can have every single character in the comic book( including The Clock and even the characters just MENTIONED and even the pets and minor background characters) be public domain characters( and I'm doing something very similar with the graphic novel for Shark, too). A lot of the characters in the comic( where The Clock will be battling a murderous gang of werewolves that are a sub-species of werewolf known as Apex Werewolves/ Apex Wolves) will come from comics, books, movies, television, ads and art. And even the lone two original characters who I came up with who will be supporting characters in the comic book for The Clock, Warren Connelly( who is an werewolf and he's pretty much meant to be a mix of Warren Beatty, Leonardo Dicaprio, Jack Nicholson, Charlie Sheen and Jordan Belfort from The Wolf Of Wall Street) and his wife, Dr. Alicia Connelly are going to be two characters that I'm going to be making into making into Open Source PD characters here on Deviantart.com! I MIGHT even submit them as a characters( as a couple) whenever you have the next Create Your Own Kernian Or Sargassian Event, too! I'm really proud of the backstory that I came up with for Warren and how he became a werewolf, too( and I also intentionally made him almost 60 years old)!

I just love the idea of snatching all of the characters that I possibly can from public domain movies and using them in The Triumphant Universe! Hopefully, more people will do likewise in using and utilizing characters from public domain movies( good or bad)! That's what they're there for, after all- to be used! And of course Torgo from Manos is a good character from the public domain that I would love to see more people use, too!
