Akai Hoseki || Delta Viper of Vektren

Name: Akai Hoseki

Meaning: Japanese for: Akai (Red) | Hoseki (Jewel)
                Vieste is a brand of jewels and Kiero Koi is Japanese; 
                he also has a red diamond between his brows


Nicknames: Akai, Hoseki, Red One, Diamond, Jewel, Bloody Jewel
                    anything goes and he is not picky; if it sounds somewhat nice

Weight: Adult: 116 lbs

Build: Body leaning more on the lean side of his family, but is usually coming around as bigger, due to the amount of fur he sports. Limbs and body in general is a bit longer than average, with pointy long ears on top of his head. While his fur resembles his father, his facial features strongly show his mom's genes and so does his overall body, taking the panther-like form from her.

Fur:  He gets the fur from his father Kiero Koi; especially as an adult; with a lot of fluff and a good thick mane around his neck. Belly and buttocks are fluffered up, too and he grows a little beard, like his paternal Grandfather. The tail he sports is also coming from his father's side, thick, fluffy and rather long.
 Cheek fur is meager as a pup, but will soon change as he grows older; becoming a fuse of his parents', but his face will mostly strongly resemble his mom Vieste.

Appearance / Gait: In his younger days Akai is rather ungraceful on his paws and doesn't mind being so too much, though the closer he watches his Mom, but especially when he starts the obsession with his Father, his gait will change drastically and he achieves to walk quite gracefully, as well as silently,- usually with a swing to his hip.

Initiation Scars (4!!): Akai went a bid overboard with his obsessive religious beliefs and he cut himself on the stone 4 times, to pledge his loyalty to:

Family:  Akai has a screwed sense of family when it comes to his parents. Due to the fact that his biological parents aren't mates and Monty takes care of the puppies for Vieste from time to time, while Kiero and Nimh don't show interest in raising them (affection wise / like a parent).

Info:   While he is aware that he has blood-related siblings; he will most likely view the puppies that grew up with him; especially if raised by Vie & Monty; as siblings. Blood does't matter for him then.

Taking a lot from Kiero in this trait, he is much like his Father: Liking to sit on the sidelines and observe, analyze and calculate more often than just rushing in and act without thought. This also means that he doesn't really take pleasure in play fights between the puppies; IF he does, however, he usually has observed the other pup for at least a sufficent amount of time (for him) to feel confident enough to win. He doesn't take pleasure in meaningless brawls or arguments and usually needs some kind of reason that would convince him to join. "If you join the play fights, it will make your body stronger." These sorts of reasonings.
This means that someone might have to go an extra mile to make this male angry or get some sort of true rise out of him; it is totally not impossible and with the right button, even Akai will lose his cool... and quickly.


[Easy Going] 

While some of his siblings strive for greatness and achievements, Akai has no such drive inside of himself and oftentimes wonders why they do so, given the fact that both of his mother figures inherit the leading position in the pack, as well as his father figures being close behind (or at least one is.. the one that counts, for him. Not really he is just trying to make you think that...). He himself is driven by the pack's religious believe system and has committed himself fully to Them and whatever needs to be done for Them.

He also doesn't strive for parental love, or so he wants to make others believe (see below). While his siblings may fight over his Mom's or Mother's love (Vie & Nimh), Akai is content with being just around them, because Vie at least, will eventually make sure that he is given the attention and love he needs/wants from her; if not, he will just snuggle up to Monty. He doesn't need no other... definitely not some white furred Magister... yeah, definitely not. (see below)


[Father Issues]

While he is quite content with his Mother's (Nimh) cold, or neutral at best, shoulder, Akai has problems with the lack of paternal and parental interest from his biological Father, Kiero. As a pup he will be fully content with the "Dad" he has adopted to be his own, Monty, and is more than happy to have him and his Mom (Vieste), showering the puppies with love and attention. However, the older he gets, the more frustrated he will grow with his biological Father, who he will refuse to call anything but "Father". Eventually this will lead to a tirade of questions aimed at his Mom (Vie) specifically, why his Father doesn't love him the way Monty loves him... or loves his own pups. 

"Why, Mom? Is there something wrong with us?" 
"He takes care of everyone else, why can't he take care of us, too?"
"Daddy Monty loves us, snuggles us, warms us. Why can't he?!"
He will use the "us" to make it less apparent that it is not an "us", but more of a "me". Why can't Father love me, the way Dad does?
Eventually he will become obsessed with Kiero and will try to follow the male on his every day (or rather night) strolls and duties,- which will eventually lead to him suffering from a screwed up sleeping pattern. If being confronted by it, which is one of the buttons mentioned above, he will quickly grew irritated and tries to either steer the conversation elsewhere or refuse to admit that all he wants is attention from his biological Father, usually coming up with some sort of excuse why he follows the Magister so crazily.

 
[Imitator / Mom focused]

Monkey see. Monkey do. When it comes to what Mom (Vie) is doing, especially in social situations.
Thusly Akai has no problems getting near his Mother (Nimh) without any kind of hesitation; the Patron doesn't hurt Mom, so she surely won't hurt him, right? 
Probably after the first few nips to his butt when he was too noisy or just plain annoying, he will imitate his Mom and just sit quietly by the Patron's side. Eventually getting used to her grumpiness and has no clue why wolves around them actually seem to fear the golden warrior more often than just plainly respecting her.
As of now, he doesn't fear Nimh... yet.
Sometimes he might even seek her presence, to get his own peace and quiet from the other puppies, if they become too pushy for his liking. He knows the golden Patron will set them straight, if they are too noisy around her... and he ... likes that.


Since Vieste is a rather outgoing and outspoken wolfess with a lot of affection, the little white & red boy will adapt and imitate her behaviour through observation. Most seem to enjoy Mom's presence, so it would be the most logical thing to just do as she does, even if one doesn't feel what they are portraying...right?
This kind of imitation behaviour and thought process will help him to see and understand feelings to a certain point, but he will struggle eventually with *actually feeling them*. It's not as if he can't feel all those feelings, no, he is capable of a variety of feelings, though the whole imitation will screw with his head a bit. Making him wonder at times, if he is feeling what he is feeling or if it is just an act.. so good, that even he is fooling himself. Leading up to all kinds of inner turmoils down the road, which will require quietness to reflect and finding himself eventually.


[Religious / High Standarts] 

Living in a highly religious pack like Vektren, where disobeying the Gods can literally cost you everything, it comes with no surprise that this male has adapted their religious beliefs wholeheartedly as well. The older he gets, the more he realizes how important Vektren's role in the Domain is and how inferior other packs are, who simply deem them evil, misguided or monstrous. Apparently they have missed the point that his packmates, as well as he himself, are protecting this mortal realm from a greater evil. Not only are their offerings helping the Gods to fight off the evil, no, their sheer servitude will eventually lead them to the Gates themselves; to continue to help the fight. 

This factor, paired with whom his and his siblings are born and raised from, will eventually make him holding up his own blood (or those he has been raised together with) to even higher standarts. If those that come from true Vektreni / the Leading Lines won't uphold the most sacred laws, who should do it then?
At first he might be listening to his Mom (Vie) to come to her with all troublesome things and unnerving observations; but eventually, he will skip past her and go straight to the Patron; even if it would cost a dear one their life. Especially after he has learned of the betrayal of the former Lord Reaper, Hellion, he will keep an extra close eye on those who seem to dance out of line a little too often or give him reason to be suspicious.


[Flirtatious / Hollow / Longing] 

The older he grows, the more he gets his flirting game on. Not surprising, given the fact the stems from two of the most flirtatious wolves in Vektren and seeing his Mom (Vie) being more often than not using her good looks for her advantage. Trying to imitate this and flirting around will eventually lead him to feel hollow inside and longing for something more. Seeing how his Mom and Mother lay together after a hard day of work and finding solace and peace in each other's embrace, makes the male yearn for exactly such a bond, but seems to have troubles realizing that this doesn't come with flirting alone. 

[Socially active / Creeper / Facade / Sly] 

You can only observe others, if you engage in conversations and other social activities, right? Right. 
And this is exactly what an older (Juvenile  / Young Adult) Akai will do. He will try to get himself involved in all kinds of social gatherings, banter or whatever,- as long as it won't bring him out of his comfort zone too much. If someone is looking for a companion to walk the territory for some kind of errand or simply to chat? Look no further, Akai is happy to oblige... and silently studying you while doing so...

Some mind find him right behind them out of the blue and get startled,- which happens quite often, to be frank. If he learned one thing from his Father (Kiero), it is to walk on silent paws and he will put them to good use. Due to the fact that he has learned to imitate feelings more rather than just feel them himself, he is rather good in putting up a facade of false emotions, if it means it will get him anywhere or something out of you.


[Snake obsession] 

Daddy Monty is usually accompanied by his snake friend, Ed. Which means, this special friend is around the puppies a lot. 

Which meeeeans... he is technically family, yes?
Yes!
For Akai, this snake is family and by extension, all snakes are family. So, don't try and hurt or eat a snake around him, because that will trigger one of his buttons and,- depending on social standings,- he might lash out at you. Though, he usually tries to keep the snakes from being hurt in the first place, even if it means his paw will get snapped at instead. Ouch... worth it!
While the meals in Vektren's are usually nothing to be picky with, Akai will stubbornly refuse to eat Eds. "No, I won't eat other Eds." And if you try to force him to eat one (when he is a puppy), he will just throw up moments later. Ew.
Since Ed had been around ever since he has opened his eyes, the male will value the snake a ton and sees him similar to an older sibling. A hissing, sometimes grumpy, limbless, slithering, older sibling. But a sibling no less... and you better treat him right!

Pre-Group History:  

Vektren's numbers were low, after the long and hard war with Aryn. Mistress Vieste and Patron Nimh had gotten several packmates to join them in trying to raise Vektren's numbers again, after Vieste had the idea that new blood would do the pack good. And so, the young bloody jewel was born, alongside many other puppies, in hopes to stregthen the Shunned Ones' servant lines.
