How did you first discover deviantART?

I first discovered dA through lurking on the Megatokyo forums way back in the day, when MT was still worth reading and wasn't emo.
I hung around for about a year, before I really knew of the forum or shoutbox (I'd joined before dAmn even existed), but lost interest for a time. I came back, found out about the IRC server they used to run, and then quickly got introduced to dAmn from there, and the rest is history. I got so drawn in, first by ThumbShare, then the dAmn community as a whole.

What was it about dA that made you want to stay?

Definitely the sense of community.

What is the story behind your username?

Haha. There're several, to be honest.
The original (and true) story stems from way back when I first started working at a Boy Scout summer camp.  It essentially stems from the name of a hentai studio (I was young, what can I say?) and I modified it to be more... appropriate for use.

What do you remember of your childhood in regards to art?

I spent pretty much any time I could "designing" any vehicle or landscape that came to mind. I didn't start photography until high school, and I'm actually considering going back to focusing purely on design and architecture, considering that's what my degree's in.

Was there anything or anyone in particular that prompted your choice of art form?

Not any one thing in particular, to be honest. It was mostly through a handful of friends that I started doing photography, and design is just something that comes naturally to me.

Who or what motivates you to continue creating?

My inspiration comes from just about everything around me, but a small handful of friends actually gives me the motivation to use it.

Of your own work, which has the most meaning to you and why?

Good question. I would have to say .
Tracks headed off to God knows where, the start of a brand new day; it's a pretty good analogy for the way things are going in my life right now. I've only just begun my journey, even though I'm 23, and I have no idea what lays around that bend. I only know what's before me.

What are the duties of your role as an admin of deviantART?

I am a Chat MN@. The TL;DR version of it is I make sure you loons don't get too out of hand on dAmn, and make sure nothing illegal happens.

What are the most challenging and most rewarding aspects of your position?

Challenging? Probably keeping my cool. I can have quite a tongue sometimes.
Rewarding? Easily the chatters on the network. They're such a great group of people and lols.

What can you reveal of projects you are working on for deviantART? Personal projects?

I don't currently have any dA projects I'm involved with. I'm too busy looking for a job in meatspace.

What would you like to achieve in the long term and short term on dA? In life?

I just want to have a good time, both in the short term and long run. I'm here because I enjoy it, and I hope others do, too.

What movies did you enjoy most?

I'm an abseloute sucker for a good, well shot, well written drama. I love just about anything Darren Aronofsky makes, Donnie Darko was like an acid trip, and and when Children of Men came out, it made me require a pants change.
Also, I flippin' love Pink Floyd's The Wall.

What type of music do you listen to? Specific groups/artists?

I'll listen to just about anything, depending on my mood. Most of the time I listen to post rock bands like Mogwai, Red Sparowes, Gregor Samsa, Explosions in the Sky, and God is an Astronaut. In the winter, though, my old Rudie self likes to stick up its head and I start reaching for bands like Mustard Plug, Streetlight Manifesto, Deal's Gone Bad, The Resignators, and Westbound Train. I'm also a sucker for dark ambient and industrial, a throwback from my EBM and Elektro days.

Which books could you just not put down?

American Gods, and just about anything by Terry Pratchett. Seriously. I'd like Neil Gaiman more, but I find he's hit or miss.

What foods can you never seem to resist? Drinks?

I can*not* get enough seafood. I love it so much. I'm also rapidly turning into a wino and I love a good pint.

What are your pet peeves on dA and in general?

Even though I'm occasionally guilty of it myself, people who don't read things and open their mouths before knowing the whole story.

Something random about yourself that you wish to share?

I'm a huge hockey fan, despite the fact that I absolutely hate living in North America.

What tips can you offer to better oneself in his or her art? In
life?

If it stops being enjoyable, stop doing it for a while. Take a step back and stop trying to force it out, you're just going to make things worse.

What does ART mean to you?

In all honesty, it means a lot. I've been here long enough that I can say it's definitely become my internet home. I don't think I've met a single place online outside of dA that is as welcoming, diverse, and fun.

Not sure I can come up with anything witty enough to be worthy of saying here, so...
