The Crisis
As the majority of the dA community is already aware, Japan was struck by an earthquake weighing in at 8.9 on the Richter scale just three days ago. The death toll is already over 10,000, and thousands more are missing or injured. The aftershock of this disaster has created tsunamis, and smaller quakes still rock the nation. Nuclear reactors are malfunctioning, no longer cooling down properly and resulting in potentially dangerous exposure for the people living nearby. An examination of thousands of survivors yesterday revealed that some already test positive for radiation. And as if those catastrophic events weren't enough, Mt. Shinmoedake- a volcano on the island of Kyushu- erupted today. Although it was active as recently as two months ago, this was the mountain's largest eruption in more than fifty years, sending ash and rock two and a half miles into the air.
The Pray for Japan movement has already swept the deviantART community, but here are a few more ways you can make a change:
Ways to Help

And a wide variety of other foundations that can be found on this list

Super long TL,DR journal
The title says it all, guys. If you don't want to hear about my excuses life, then don't read. I certainly can't blame you xD;; Important (relatively speaking, at least, since none of it really is xD) points are in bold, but if you just want to know about my art status, then you should probably skip to the end 8D;
★ Adventures in California! I really did intend to be back here by 6/25, but I didn't actually have internet when I thought I would xD;; My family went to California so my siblings and I could attend an iD TECH camp, which was really cool and nerdy (and fully intentional), and also to go to AX11 (which was totally spur of the

The poem is vivid, powerful and incredibly eloquent, summing up the enormity of this crisis in just a few stanzas. She challenges readers to make a change by painting a picture of everything we stand to lose if we don't. Great work,
